Used to use Spotify and YouTube music, but as I was already a subscriber to Amazon Prime (for TV not shopping), I cancelled the other streaming music services thinking Amazon Prime Music would have me covered.
Today was really the first time I’ve tried to use it, can I not play albums of a single artist?
It seems to be just AI controlled, so selects the music for me. Appears I need to pay £10 a month to have the ability to search and play the music I want. Surely this is me doing something wrong? Or is Amazon Music prime just a random music generator?
Not a moan, I’ll keep Prime for the TV, just looks like I need to go back to paying for YouTube music.
You have to pay extra for the full music subscription (Amazon Music Unlimited)
No you are correct amazon music is garbage
It used to be ok when it was a bonus service to encourage you to keep subscribing to Prime and you could search for albums and artists, but they decided to make it rubbish in the hope that it would encourage you to pay them money. A very brave business strategy when there are so many alternatives IMHO.
I think I subscribe at the moment but the 'free' version used to be just a more limited selection of artists. It is garbage though regardless. I keep meaning to change to something with a better UI.

Full subscriber here, yes you can. I don't recall it being any different when I was a prime subscriber but that was a while ago.
It seems to choose random German language rock bands for me... now chalked up in the "tried it once and didn't like it category" 😒
Tried it on a trial basis several months ago and strongly disliked it; ended up re-subscribing to Tidal (I've flitted between it and Spotify for a few years) and have just stuck with it. Even such simple things as looking for albums by one band (Clutch, for example) would also list albums by a rapper of the same name; its as if there's no proper sorting of artists; they're just all thrown together.
I found it useless maybe a library of 2000000 tracks but compared to Spotify or Tidal it was rubbish
I need to look out for 90 day offers and keep swapping between Spotify and Tidal, I do think Spotify edges it

It used to be the same, bar the amount of songs you had access too. Then they changed the included-with-prime to be rubbish.
