Nope I don't want prime, I just want Amazon to actually display the P&P charges against the item in my basket FFS, how hard?
Put items in basket, lots of promises of free delivery.. go through every order screen except the final "pay now" & the postage suddenly appears.. £5, but for what item?
No idea, it doesn't say..
Ok, go back cancel the 'suspect' item add in another more expensive one to see if this will get me past the £10 mark on items FROM amazon, and maybe free postage.. P&P charge is now £10... WHAT? WHY? FFS WHERE?
Arsemunchers the lot of them.
There's usually a screen with the postage options as you go through checkout.
If you're buying from different sellers on the Amazon marketplace then you may incur multiple postage charges.

..and it will tell you this when you're adding it to your basket.
I was similarly annoyed with it the other day when buying a memory card. I couldn't work out what the postage options were and didn't have a clue what prime was.
In the end I must of chose a free one that automatically signed me up for prime because a few days later I had an email saying the card registered for prime had been declined (had new cards issued when my account was skimmed). Now every time I go on Amazon it flashes up I need to enter a new card for prime.
I think ill stay away from Amazon for a bit until the heat is off.
It does seem needlessly complex. I think if it's dispatched by amazon it should show the delivery costs on the basket page, but it doesn't if you have items from a 3rd party seller.
When you have a mixture of items from amazon and 3rd parties it can become a headache.
You can cancel Prime at any time and get a refund for the remainder of the year.
I did this after my one month free trial was up and suddenly prime delivery time went from next day to 4 days....
Another ball ache is not showing the delivery times from other sellers up front.
They also don't pick free delivery items straight away anymore. A year or so ago items were picked and sent very quickly even free delivery ones, but can now take 4 or 5 days to be despatched.
Anyone would think they are trying to force people down the Prime route!

Yep there definitely USED to be, but bugger me if it hasn't just completely disappeared.. and as for Prime, I tried it and cancelled. Then had to talk to amazon about an issue and the closing comment from them was, 'oh I see you prime has been cancelled let me re-enable that for you'..I'd closed the connection before I realised.. next day I got a bit shouty about it.

[cynic] Perhaps they're getting worried about tax loopholes tightening, or dwindling profits[/cynic]
