Hi,
I've just bought my 6 year old son an amazon kindle fire HD. He loves watching Minecraft videos on YouTube and listening to music. Don't worry, he also swims, goes rock climbing and cycles!
I'm used to Android and playstore etc. The kindle feels alien and I'm struggling to use it!
I've tried to set up a child's account but this restricts it to Amazon recommended videos with no search option. The videos available are terrible.
I've looked at the Amazon kids option but this is a paid service.
I don't want him having full access to the Internet but I also don't want him watching the crap amazon wants him to watch.
Any tips on how to use it and advice appreciated
Thanks
Is it a kids kindle fire or just a normal kindle fire? Both my kids have a kids kindle and they have a year's free subscription to Amazon kids giving restricted profile/apps etc. You can set the age limit as well to give better search/apps for them as well

and it’s a really good service for £2(?) a month. However, and it’s a biggy, there’s no YouTube access via Kids+, which is a pain. (OTOH I hate 99% of the guff they are able to uncover on YouTube so I’m actually delighted)
