Supposedly had an item delivered Monday (email claimed ‘posted through letterbox’) but when I got home, nothing.
It was a tool I needed so ordered again and the second one arrived Tuesday. (What a world we live in, eh)
How do I go about obtaining a refund for the first one?
Follow the steps there
Raise it both with the supplier and Amazon.

Or in stw tradition go straight to emailing Jeff.Bezos@amazon.com
I always just raise a return and they are pretty good once you get onto the live chat with them. With a bit of persistance you can often get a returnless refund even if you have received the item and its faulty (just tell them that you can't get to the post office or something and don't worry about the morality of it, we are dealing with Amazon here...)
Mind you our local couriers do seem to think that dropping fragile things over a 6ft gate constitutes adequate delivery. The bets one has to be delivering it to our (full) bin which was out for the bin men...
Contact Amazon customer support by going to the order. You’ll be refunded or offered a replacement. Refunds are pretty much instant.
Last two orders I've had of Amazon were marked as delivered but the weren't. Went on live chat got an automated message stating wait 48 hours and if I hadn't received item I could opt for a replacement to be sent or get a refund. Both times I got a no questions asked refund. But about a week later the items turned up 🤔.
Errrrr ask Amazon? 😂 They are extremely good with this kind of thing IME and don’t mess you about.
I think there is a general 'mess' at the minute with deliveries. I was in when the Amazon guy delivered 2 big boxes of cat food (how exciting my life is) but I said ther should be three and explained there was one box stated on the 'system' as a later delivery (they were already a day late). Anyway he double checked and it was in the van - nice chap but I think they are massively over stretched never mind lost stuff)
We're currently having delivery issues with two wetsuits from Wiggle. Evri have been delivering them for three days, but no way of complaining via Wiggle yet as the items still showing as 'out for delivery'. MrsF is getting cross with me(she works for an on-line company) but eplaining Wiggle is going under, staff going, their system isn't working etc etc).
I think I'd suggest we all be cautious ordering Xmas presents at the moment on-line !
In my experience with Amazon, just get in touch, say the item wasn’t delivered, get a refund, no problems. As hateful as it is buying from Lex Luthor, at least they don’t have a painful returns policy/procedure.
Or in stw tradition go straight to emailing Jeff.Bezos@amazon.com
No STW tradition would be turning up at his boat and shouting abuse at him. Demanding a reason.
Who did you give money to? That's who you contact because that's who your Contract Of Sale is with.
If it's Amazon then they're pretty good IME at going "yeah, bugger it, here you go."
Amazon are really good at refunding you IME. Strange experience with Wiggle just now. Ordered some Black Friday running kit at ridiculous discounts as presents for my niece and nephew. Parcel was delayed a day but showed up yesterday. Only it didn’t contain running kit it contained some probiotic digestion aid that Wiggle don’t even sell. The shipping label was marked Wiggle, but it seems like maybe Evri printed a new label and got it wrong? Interesting to see what happens!!
Yeah Amazon are generally easy to deal with for this sort of thing, although I have read some people having a nightmare with high value items (e.g. a laptop) and it taking weeks/months to sort
Yes Amazon are really good with that sort of thing. You should get an instant refund if not delivered. If it’s a high value item you need to give the delivery guy a code number. He types that in and the item is recorded as delivered. You can’t then say you didn’t get it.
Ordered something from Amazon. Apparently delivered two days ago.
Found in the wheelie bin tonight. Thanks Royal Mail!
