Hello all
I used to think that items on Amazon that say "by Shimano" or "by Rockshox" mean that they come directly from Shimano and Sram. However, a friend of mine told me that this is not true and that the Prime items come from Amazon's warehouse (EU S.A.R.L.) and that there is a chance that the items despite saying "by Shimano" could be counterfeits.
Can anyone shed a light on this matter? I tried searching on the web but can't find the answer to this.
I'm not one who can tell counterfeits from originals just by looking at it so I am worried that half my bike is fitted with fake stuff.

Parts can be fulfilled by just about anyone, got a link to the parts in question?
Ignore who it's 'by' (this is just the brand) and where its fulfilled from. Look at the seller. For branded items I avoid any seller that's not Amazon themselves unless they are a well known official dealer for that brand.

Even that isnt completely safe if it is fulfilled by amazon. Amazon do "comingling" for many products (think sellers can pay more to keep separate) so despite buying from company x its just plucked from a container with all the sellers inventory in it.If Y have dumped a bunch of fakes in then its potluck.
Is anyone faking Shimano stuff, apart from maybe chains and brake pads? Genuine question.
don't know about fake parts but bought some shimano pedals from a major bike shop chain via amazon heavily discounted that suffered early bearing failure - no packaging suspect a warranty return that should have been binned
I purchased lots of stuff over the years like Shimano mineral oil, Fox fluid, Sram shock oil etc. They say stick with the OEM stuff but now wondering if I have Baby oil with red dye in my brake lines....
The 'By Shimano' bit will be whatever was entered into the manufacturer field by the person who set up the listing.
My businesses sell a large proportion of their stuff through Amazon, but personally I would always buy elsewhere. They're a nasty organisation and you can generally find the same items cheaper on other websites (mainly because they charge such crazy fees for independent retailers to sell via their marketplace platform).
