Mentioned to a couple of family members I was looking for some skinny jeans, and was mocked roundly.
I am 42 and 7/12ths, 32" waist. Frankly, I was quite hurt, but it's two less Christmas cards to write I suppose.

Were they right?

You're too old, definitely.

But don't let that stop you having people s**** behind your back in the street.

Eh?

I never realised, as a man, that I was supposed to give a monkeys what anyone thought about my dress sense. or lack of.

They should just be grateful I'm not naked.

And to answer the question, so long as you don't buy those stupid trousers where the crotch is down at about knee height, then fine.

Depends how skinny really, as the "skinny fit" jeans from places like Hollister / Jack Wills ae pretty skinny without being the full on, rad, bling, gnarr skinny jeans worn by the yoof of today

if you're asking permission from interet strangers you've already slipped beyond the point of no return. the problem is that you are swayed by opinion and have lost the anarchic voice within. so, no, you can't wear skinny jeans. you should buy some sensible cords from M&S.

This subject is the "What Tyres for..." of the chat forum.

Comes up about as often, and attracts all the same posters saying all the same things.

CEO of Box.net was wearing them during his Developers Conference opening presentation, so if CEO can wear them for work, anyone can..

I've got a smartkey for my 'skinny jeans thread' retort.

Get 'man heels' too..........

Be a proper fashion victim.

Saggy arse, oh, and a massive fringe, with a parting that starts over your left ear.

I can't wear skinny jeans - if i find a pair that vaguely fit, they're always skin tight on my calves and loose around my ankles and knees. They look absolutely retarded.

I find even regular cut jeans are too tight on the thighs, have to go for relaxed fit. Maybe that's partly because of my 30" waist though.

Cheers, Rich

I don't think it's possible to be too OLD for skinny jeans, however, I do believe it is possible to be too FAT for them 😉

Ah, I must be too fat then 😥

Not sure my BMI would agree though, 5'10" and 9 1/2 stone 😆

Wear what you like, including skinny jeans if you want.

Just accept that they look crap on anyone other than women/girls and maybe (very arguable) some very specific male models.

If you do get them, you may find that your problem is not that you are too old... but that all your other jeans will feel like clowns trousers, huge baggy and silly looking.

The wife got me a pair, I said no way I'm over 30, but I have to say they look smart and I'm a convert. Even got skinny work trousers now and feel unfortable in the old baggy strides.

Skinny Jeans are so yesterday -the fact a bunch of 40-somethings are discussing it means that ship has sailed long ago.

Forget skinny. Elasticated, cuffed ankles are where its at. Grandaddyo 🙂

Maybe some people are just jealous that at this grand age, you can still fit into skinny jeans.

I am 42 in April and I say you are too old! 😀

Are we talking "Levi 501s" skinny or "Steel Panther" skinny?

Elasticated, cuffed ankles are where its at

"Carrot fit," I'm guessing? Spotted some of these in a clothes shop I was being dragged around by the OH the other day. Looked like something Russ Abbott would wear. If I bought a pair, people would think someone had stolen my horse.

Well I'm 46, and have got some straight cut ones. But Mrs Andrewy accused me of wearing 'dad jeans'. Ok, I am a dad, but I was quite hurt. I'm thinking of calling a solicitor 🙁

Levi's 511 are great, they're slim rather than skinny.

Basically, they're significantly more fitted than Levi's 501 without being ball crushingly tight.

The 98% cotton/2% elastane ones are nice, the 100% cotton ones are strictly for racing snakes only.

GAP do some decent slim jeans too, but as with anything at GAP the sizing varies to a ridiculous extent, so you have to try on about 4 pairs in the same size.

As mentioned above, they do make all of your existing jeans seem MASSIVE in comparison.

BH8, 31 and 11/12ths
