Am I running out of blood?

I just noticed that my fingers appear to be drained of blood compare to the rest of my hand which seems a bit strange. I haven't seen them do this before.

A sudden attach of poor circulation?
A death tumour?
My body withdrawing blood from areas most likely to be cut or removed?
Too many historic injuries meaning not enough blood to fill the whole body?

IIRC are you not on medication for high blood pressure or something? Can be a side effect of some of those drugs I think

White finger or Raynauds

Not on any meds so I am guessing Cat Aids mutated with Monkey Pox.

There is a much less likely explanation that I developed Raynauds syndrome over night - a quick google of the images shows them to be similar but no apparent treatment required. I wonder what brought it on?

being you, in the same way as your body can switch supply to muscles, when they know exercise is coming, or digestion when they know food is coming, I suspect your body has just realised you recently posted a 'who wants to watch me make.....' thread and is preparing for the inevitable.

If the blood has left your fingers where has it rushed to?

There's always a solution to problems with fingers.

It sounds worse but I once met a guy with that and he was just Fiennes

Raynaud's is an auto-immune condition isn't it? Afaik they can appear spontaneously, but I'm not sure about overnight.

It can be. I was taught that Reynaud's phenomenon is white fingers (as in the pic above) whereas Reynaud's syndrome is when that is associated with autoimmune conditions (which is fairly common). Not everyone seems to make this distinction but basically, it can be pretty normal / benign but can also be associated with some fairly unpleasant conditions.

Do you work with, or use power tools a lot or have done in past?

That is either Raynauds or a lovely example of episodic stage 2 Vibration white finger blanching.

The fact that it has just occurred, leans it slightly more to the episodic finger blanching that you would expect with vibration damage, if so this is unfortunately irreversible and needs to be managed to prevent further damage and possible loss of function in the hand.

other possible causes could be:
Primary Raynauds phenomenon
• Other diseases;
- Obstructive vascular disease
- Connective tissue disease
• Medication;
- Heart and blood pressure
- Asthma
• Other occupational exposures;
- lead, vinyl chloride,arsenic
• Trauma or compression

Only vibration was sanding this yesterday. I am not sure if a once over with 80, 120 and then 240 grit is enough but I guess it could be. The fingers have gone normal again now.

I don't think any of the OP's injuries are unexplained.

That's why i put at least one.
I did consider putting both, but then assumed there would be a stump for a finger in that pic

Raynauds - my hands look like that regularly. Can be quite painful sometimes. Last seen after the Southern xc race yesterday...

^^Genuine LOL

Those hands though,they have been places,places that some of us are not brave enough to go.
Could it all be linked to overuse of the sexpond hot tub? 😉🙃🤣

I have similar problems with my right hand, currently waiting for a referral to see if it's Dupuytren' Contracture. If I've been using the strimmer or chainsaw for a few hrs I can't straighten my trigger finger.

That's not what it is if it looks like that photo.
If it looks like that photo you're probably holding the wrong end of the chainsaw/strimmer.

Your fingers are pre-empting your next accident, cutting off the blood supply so that you don't bleed to death when you chop the ends off them.

PS - from your thread title, you running out of blood is better than blood running out of you.

Ironically that sounds much more like a condition called ‘trigger finger’.

I suffer from that too, any time of the year but mostly autumn damp weather. Feels horrible but my cure is to drive with the heater on max and it will take your mind off it
A hot shower can make it feel worse so no intense heat
I got it two weeks ago in the Mediterranean, 28° but the sea not up to best temperature yet

Looks like reynauds, mine was triggered 2.5yrs ago by low B12 levels, a few months of high strength folic acid tablets stopped the worst of it. Had by B12 levels checked last month, because the white finger started coming back, but my B12 levels are now normal so my GP told me I probably had permanent nerve damage and just to wear gloves avoid touching cold things.
