As are most jobs, nothing new or unique there.

Make it end, please!

Agreed!

People really are just making scenarios up now that have nothing to do what I have said, done, expect to happen or have been challenged about by an employee.

I agree this can and should stop now.

Cougar for the win👍🏻
Retired recently after 40yrs on the shop floor of a multi national earlier in the year. Joined 8yrs after apprenticeship on another “industry” and could’nt believe the entitlement “ culture similar to what you describe which still exists today by those who ate still there. However things are changing and those who are now replacing us “oldies” are not getting the same perks as in the past.
You can change your culture if you think you have a decent business that does not require bribery to keep it viable.
MrsT used to have the same issues as a manager who had to organise “away days/training/team building” days. Sadly the rot had set in before she was tasked with organising said events. Issues with senior management and a mature female workforce and some really off the wall type of events did not go down well (Scot Gov) 2hr train journey there & back added to many who travelled 1/2 to 3/4hr to get to work did not go down well!!!! Managers who live and work in the “city” have little sympathy or knowledge of what people in rural areas have to do to get to work.
As an example my son secured a job in an unrelated discipline due to his skills that the business he got an interview with. The employer was so dissatisfied with the quality of graduates unable to do what he wanted and the riders re salary that they expected. Son got the job due to his skills for a fair bit less than a graduate. The company then paid for him to get a degree.
Moral is IMO. You can get the right people without all the add ons. If you can’t, move away to somewhere you can. Make more money👍🏻😏

True.
Just like Brexit
Too much overthinking
From my shop floor point of view my face didn’t fit, stuck it out for 40yrs tho. If you value the guy find a way of quietly giving him something in the future. I have colleagues who have harboured serious grudges against their managers for such issues to the detriment of their health. Not that they would agree with that view point.

Johndoh,

Irrespective of what else, you have my respect for trying. Brilliant job fella.

Once again I despair at humanity and STW
