After some advice on the Alps and organising a Stag do there...

My brother is in his 30s and would like his stag do in the Alps in July. There are likely to be around 15 people and will be there at least Friday - Sunday.

My first thought was Chamonix as it is good town as well as in the mountains and also not too far from the airport from what I remember.

My ideas so far are:
- Hotel or chalet accommodation
- Mountain biking on one day (with hire bikes) whilst golfists do their thing
- Night out
- Hydrospeed or similar in the river on another day

Any suggestions of where to stay, what to do, how to organise it and just about everything else I will need to sort out! Clearly it is not going to be cheap but will look to avoid making it too expensive where ever I can.

Once you've lost the best part of two days to travel, and of course the expense, you could have probably had a cracking spell somewhere in the UK, in a s****y golf hotel, not far from some good trails.

Not wishing to really put you off from the Alps idea (and I say that has a huge alpine fan), but with a healthy budget, you could have a lot of fun, and memories much closer to home.

Unless of course everyone is flying in from around the globe already in which case Geneva is as good a hub as any,.

If you've got numbers and don't mind doubling up in the rooms then a chalet should be pretty cheap. Chamonix is a good option as there's quite a bit to do in town. Morzine is also worth considering as the bars are fairly lively. Plenty to do as a group and the riding is good for a mixed group. Even beginners can have fun on the fire roads and greens or on a stupid scooter thing. Hydrospeeding or other activities can easily be booked in town but you will need to book a day or 2 before.

It's a very fair point and one I have already mused. So I should probably make two plans in rough and then make a decision.

I don't want to write it off at this stage as he has suggested that and likes the Alps having done ski seasons there before. He has also been on other stag dos in France/Spain that he has enjoyed.

Oh and whilst I will entertain that golfists might not want to come mountain biking I don't know if I could stomach a golf resort!
