Hello fellow petrolheads,

I've got an Almeria Trackday coming up soon and was wondering if my Garmin Edge 25 would be compatible for rough lap times on a short circuit.

I'm guessing Stava would be a total no go but does anyone no of any decent apps that may be suitable for this sort of thing?

Cheers.

I used Strava for when I lapped the Nurburgring using my old Garmin 200. Just set it to a 1s data collection and you won't be too far out

Cool. I haven't used the 25 yet but I'll be giving it a go anyhow.

What did you take to the ring?

I have used my Garmin forerunner in cars around European circuits.

However not many track day organisers will permit timing....and IF discovered will see you removed...

Used my edge 500 round donington, complete waste of time.

Android phone and racechrono with a Bluetooth 10 or 100 hz sample rate for any kind of useful data. Failing that a starlane GPS data logger

For those who may be interested, I ended up using the Garmin Edge 25 around the Almeria Circuit and it seems to have given fairly accurate results.

Whilst I wasn't looking for quick lap times, the laps were fairly consistent with a quickest of 2:18 (fast group going 1:58's and quicker). Hopefully Focused Events will send my official times through as it was all timed with transponders on all the riders bikes.

Quite happy with that considering I've not ridden for 5 -6 years and had to take it easy. There's no way I was going to drop that bike, I may have to just retire it now as a centrepiece in the mancave as it was before.

A great experience and one I would recommend.
