Anyone else watch this as a kid..fast forward and the replays are on Yesterday channel.
I still find it daftly funny. Dated or dated-yaah? 😀
It's probably nostalgia but I still find it funny as hell. I woz jist pissing.
"Lee-sin very care fa lee..."
Xenophobia and racial stereotyping at it's funniest 😀
'Good moaning, I wish you to give a massage to roanie'
'Tell Roanie', I shall brung the two British earmen when the bums start falling.'
The policeman rocks!
Wasn't funny 1st time round IMHO, very much doubt it's improved with age...
"This is my wife, I have told her everything"
"Will she talk?"
"Incessantly."
Just watched it. Still has me laughing.
Love it - probably my favourite sitcom from the 80s
The policeman rocks!
He does. It must have been bloody hard to talk like that; there was a scene where he's sat in the cafe with another agent and they're both mangling things...
probably my favourite sitcom from the 80s
It's funny, but it's not Blackadder, is it.
Agree with mrlebowski., not something that was ever on in our house. Birds of a Feather, Are You Being Served, Hi-De-Hi, all the sort of crap we avoided.
It's funny, but it's not Blackadder, is it.
Nothing is Blackadder though.
"He, sir? He?"
"You see? You're laughing already"
"I was sheeting by the door, when I 'eard a good shut"
Allo Allo beats Black Adder evertime for me.
I've got it on series link. The Mrs hates it.
It's total shit; you must all be drunk
It's funny, but it's not Blackadder, is it.
In Allo Allo all they did was speak about boobies.*
In Blackadder, they wore fake boobies.
.
.
*Apart from Herr Flikk and Helga, who to be fair, did wear basques.
Allo Allo was great.
"The RAF have bermed ze train"
"What 'ave ze naughty RAF done?"
It's more Father Ted than Blackadder. Still even then it's a more gentler, basic humour than Father Ted at that.
I love the end credits, it has almost a curtain call theatre to it. A different era?
😀
It's total shit; you must all be drunk
THIS
You folk must love Mrs Browns Boys
Junky ? You folk must love Mrs Browns Boys
Easy now - they're drunk, not retarded.
I love Allo Allo, it was one of the first sitcoms I watched as a kid, still love it now.
Don't like Mrs Brown's Boys though, not at all.
You folk must love Mrs Browns Boys
Despise it. What happened? I haven't seen a decent comedy for years.
Blackadder
Faulty towers
Auf wiedersehn
Porridge
Only fools
Allo Allo
Dads army
Father ted
Now we get ****ing browns boys, my family and a shit load of "reality" stuff. Did all the good writers die? Depressing.
Can't wait for the "wasn't Last of the Summer Wine fabulous" nostalgiafest to start.
Loved it as a 11 year old and love the nostalgia of it
Didn't really get Blackadder - do now and its brill
The Young Ones as well - awesome!
Fawlty Towers - genius
Allo Allo for nostalgia all the way!!! 🙂
It was funny for a bit but then I grew out of it and realised it's just the same jokes and plot every episode. It overdid it and went on way too long.
It's the same as Are You Being Served, Ain't Half Hot Mum, Hi-de-Hi. Same innuendo jokes each week, tedious after a while. Guess what? Same creators inc Allo Allo. That said, they did make Dad's Army, and while repetitive again, it was a lot more funny.
Blackadder, Father Ted, Young Ones, Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Open All Hours... million times better than all of these put together. That's not to say they don't make me chuckle at times.
Only Fools, is better but likewise just went on too long. Worse is Gold has destroyed it for me as it's just on 24/7.
The Gateau from the Chateau cracks me up every time.
Just let me start up my powerful Gestapo laptop and reply...
Enjoyed it in a 'oh its on I might as well watch it' way back in the 80's, I imagine it must seem very dated now, just like Mrs Browns Boys?
Now, the Kenny Everett Show, that's one that keeps on giving.
There are 2 shows that we make a point of watching. Dad's Army and People Just do Nothing.
Political correctness has killed comedy 🙄
It was/is excellent and very clever...the stereotype comments are just surface things...but the way they spoke was how the French speak - but in English...very clever.
Was a great comedy...up there with Blackadder and Dad's Army (both also very clever and funny).
Political correctness has killed comedy
Tell that to Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle... watch "Fleabag"...
Only shit comedy killed shit comedy. (except it didn't cos it seems to still be around)

As anybody who saw 'Big Top' can attest.
I'm learning that Cartoons aimed at young kids is where a lot of the decent comedy writers are working now. I quite often find myself leaving the kids TV on when they've gone to bed and watching Gravity Falls, Pickle and Peanut and Phineas and Ferb.
The main channels are either crap or reality crap 👿
Kenny Everett, the man was revered as a comedy god in the playground on Monday mornings, judging by the imitations. Somehow, we were allowed to watch his antics along with the gyrations of Hot Gossip, but the Young Ones was way too naughty for the majority of ten year olds in my school.
Allo Allo was definitely best when Helga was cavorting around in her Gastapo basque.
Brilliant stuff, watched it growing up and loved it. Still good now as well.
But, it's is no Blackadder. But then, nothing is.
Now, the Kenny Everett Show, that's one that keeps on giving.
If memory serves, it used to be shown on primetime BBC1, early Saturday evenings. We can only marvel at how he got away with "Cupid Stunt".
That's the problem when they go on too long. Blackadder got out at the right time.
Renee lives just round the corner from me. I sometimes see him shuffling around the supermarket. He looks a bit of a sad old fella now. Actually, I haven't seen him for awhile....is he still alive?
Still alive, he's from Hudds too!
Lucky to be still alive IIRC after his storm damage accident
Emergency brain surgery after a lump of wood came through his windscreen wasn't it?
watch "Fleabag"...
I thought I was the only person watching it, bloody funny 😆
PSA All you fans of shit comedy! There's a Keeping Up Appearances remake coming up on beeb1 , it;s funny right, cos she's like really like posh and your know her name her name is a bit like bucket! Bucket! hahahahha
I imagine he's shuffling etc now partly due to his head injury (CTE?). I hope you say hi to him, I would. 😀

Want that keen on Fleabag myself, but as evidenced in the other recent sitcom thread, there are a fair few around today that are proper funny. Personally, I think that Man Down, Friday Night Dinner and Raised By Wolves are as good or better than any 'classic' sitcom. Also seem to have missed out on something special as I've not seen People Just Do Nothing.
Didn't like Man Down, the previous Greg Davis sitcom, Cuckoo was better. First series anyway. Second was crap.
