Has anyone been to one of the group seminars?

I know a lot of people recommend the books etc, but I Have the opportunity to go to one of the group seminars (quit smoking/vaping) for free (normally £300 I think?)

Just wondering if anyone had used this method and what to expect. Not normally my chosen way to spend a day, but if it works then I’m up for it.

I read the book. It worked.
You need to suspend your cynicism, and I found rather than just swallow the whole book, take a few core tenets from it as little mental reminders when you feel an urge. Given this, Im not sure how much a group session will help. Smacks more of a money making gimmick, esp since Carr is dead now.

My only issue with the book method, from a personal perspective, is that I know I won’t read it 🙄

I just can’t imagine that way working for me because I know what I am like.

Whereas the group seminar type thing, seems like a better way for me to sort of have the method “fed” to me without needing to motivate myself (beyond turning up and listening etc)

As I won’t be paying, I don’t mind the cost/profiteering etc angle. So even though I agree that’s probably what it is, that’s not an issue really.

You've got to want to stop, the delivery method is irrelevant. Seriously, get the book, you'll read it in a couple of hours.

Now 4 months off for me with no urge to smoke again. Try read the book but in your own time with no pressure. You need to want to stop as no beer says. Best thing I've done this year health wise. Hopefully you do and manage to quit too.

I do want to quit, but the fact that I don’t have to pay for the seminar (Vitality Health insurance) But would have to pay for the book, added to the fact that I know myself and like the idea of “having” to do it if I book a seminar, then I was hoping someone else had been to one.

But to be fair, if the book works so well, I can’t see the seminar being any LESS effective.

If it’s free, what have you got to lose by trying?

I read the book. Been smoke free for nearly 7 years and don’t miss it.
