Thought I would shar me recipe for Allbran cake as an alternative to flapjack/malt loaf trail foods.
Recipe was given to me by my Nanwhich I've dubbed ride cake. I've the n come up with the recovery
Recipe, Regular seems like a natural progression. Can't seem to find any reference to this recipe on in tweets, so here it is for everyone enjoy!
Ingredients:
Milk 1/2 pint
Allbran 4oz
mixed dried fruit 10oz (sultanas, dates, figs, cranberries etc)
Sugar 5oz
Self rasing four 4oz
Method:
Mix the Allbran, sugar, fruit and milk together.
Leave to rest for about 45 mins
Preheat oven to 170
Grease and line a loaf tin
Stir in the self rasing flour
Pour into greased and lined small loaf tin
Cook for 1 hour or a little longer, until a knife comes out clean
Recovery recipe
Replace some of the milk with syrup from stem ginger in syrup.
Replace fruit with powder ginger, crystalised ginger chunks of chopped
Stem ginger in syrup. Not sure of quantity still working that out.
Can also add in a 1 1/2 tablespoons of black treacle.
Cut back on the sugar, to suit taste, 2 oz seems pretty good.
Follow recipe as above.
Ginger I'm led to believe is ant inflammatory so will help with recovery.
Regular recipe
Replace fruit with prunes and figs.
Add prune juice to the milk, along with a couple of drops of Picolax
OBVIOUSLY THIS LAST ONE IS A JOKE PLEASE DON'T MAKE THIS.
