I know this is a not a religious forum, but just got in from a beautiful All Souls service in the village where I grew up. Anyway, comfort and thoughts to anyone on here missing a loved one at the moment....
A spiritually uplifting experience for you THM ? Brave of you to share it on here. And nice sentiments too - my mum died on All Saints' Day (the day before All Souls' Day) 2 years ago, so it kind of has a special meaning these days.
Mixed emotions Ernie tbh but beautiful in the end and yes uplifting for sure. Listening to all the names being read out (most of whom I knew as a child) makes you realise that you are not alone in grief. Hence my post.
Thoughts to you too. A friend in the village lost his mum on All Saints Day as well. Her name was also read out tonight.
To finish a service with a dimmed church and many candles burning on the altar is a good way to remember your own loss and to think of others at the same time. Very special.
