Anyone done one that they would recommend? Fancy giving it a try.
2 adults, 2 children age 14,15 next summer.
Fairly sporty so ideally includes watersports / tennis / golf something like that. Some MB or road biking would be fine but less important. Daughter likes to lie by a nice pool. Son likes to play in it. Kids wouldn't do kids club I don't think. If it even exists for that age group.
Needs to be warm/hot ( eg 26-35 degrees) and ideally 7-10 days would be under £4K, but can be a bit flexible.(Alcohol doesn't need to be included, wife doesn't drink much, me not at all). We all like good healthy food. Quality way more important than quantity.
Neilson beach clubs would fit your bill, but probably over budget. We had a great time at Messini in Greece with them, good road and MTB kit, excellent tennis, loads of sailing and windsurfing and a lovely pool. I think we snuck in about 4K 2 years ago, but a recent look suggests 4.8k, and that’s sharing a room which your kids are probably too old for. Maybe some deals though.
Club lasanta lanzarote?
Lykia near Olu Deniz in Turkey is good. Plenty of sports on offer. There’s a main pool area but we preferred the separate water park area instead, as it was better for families. Food is the usual Turkish gayer, tonnes of it, mostly edible. We have done plenty of these All-Inclusive holidays, but Lykia is one we woukd all happily go back to. If your not drinkers (like us) it’s a pricey holiday.
Salbach in Austria, done twice with mixed family group. Lovely place. No beach but there is a big lake.
Thanks all. Looks like I've misjudged the general budget for summer all inclusive holidays.
Messini with Nielson coming in at 7K when I price it up.. how did you get 4.8K TomB ? (Looks ideal)
Theres plenty to be had in Menorca, and the quiet side of Ibiza is pretty good - short flights too. Either book early for a discount, or book late and take your chances. We did the latter once and booked with Tui the Hotel Fiesta Es Cana Ibiza for £1650 for a week for 4 of us all inclusive - booking last week of July to go in August.
On the flip side we also did ten days at the Royal Son Bou Family club in Menorca which was pretty amazing and I could throughly recommend. (its 20 mins from the Airport so if you get the 6:30am Gatwick flight you are sitting in the Sun by 11am). More ££ though.
If you haven't done this already, beware the format is pretty generic for this type of holiday - East, drink, sit by the pool/beach all day, eat, watch the Childrens show, then the cheesy adults entertainers, drink more sleep and repeat. Price often dictates the quality of the guests also.
If you want to lie around be lazy - perfect. If not, go half board or B&B and do some exploring of the Islands.
We’ve been to Iberostar hotels (two different ones) for the last three years in Majorca. Food was absolutely delicious and massive variety and very high quality. We’ve two children but one under 2 so didn’t pay for her. We went through jet2. 4K might be just ok? Lots of activities also.
I was going to recommend Neilsons too, they are great with plenty to do for everyone. Food is plentiful, kit and instruction are good. Great chance to try something new - we now both play tennis entirely because we did it on a Neilsons trip and we can both sail (him better than me) and windsurf (me better than him).
We went to Croatia last year, Stansted to Zadar flights with a 40 min transfer and a National Park over the road from the resort which was just spectacular and 1 of the top 10 places to climb. We went for a stroll on a Sunday - got back after 12 miles of walking and had only been about 2/3 of the way through the park. Only downside side was there was not much wind - great if you're a beginner, not so good as an intermediate.
Anyway, the cost - they often do deals so just keeping checking the website and there is a variable discount available for RYA or skiclub GB members, The amount varies between the resorts but it can be 10% per person, so it will be worth a family membership to one of those organisations, Be aware you need to have had at least 1 month of membership to qualify for the discount. A quick call or email and they'll let you know which resorts have which discounts so you can decide is it worth it.
Mark Warner are kind of similar but can be even more expensive and my other half will NEVER go with them again after a winter holiday with them.
