You know you've seen a film a lot when you know the script 😆

Never seen the bit with the children with their parents discovering the ship before - was that edited out in some versions?

Just watching Prometheus now (obligatory break for the news). So looks like I'll watch the whole thing in the order - I think?!

Prometheus could have been awesome as a spoof comedy version. Carry on Aliens. Just needed a few more gags.

Prometheus would fail as a carry on film. The only opportunity for some comedy boobage was lost when the captain offered to nail that nice lady and then there was clearly a twenty minute gap in the film when it didn't happen.

Even as a basic action film it was completely lost on me I'm afraid. A victim of the 'Lost' generation that like lots of stuff happening that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

It wasn't in the original theatrical release. You're watching the Special Edition, it's 15-20 minutes longer.

What channel is it on, I can't find it?

Sometimes Alien, sometimes Aliens.

There's not a lot in it, TBH.

To get me in the mood for Prometheus, I bought the Blu-ray box set and re-watched them all recently.

Whilst by no means a great movie, Alien Resurrection wasn't half as bad as I remembered it to be. I still can't get on with Alien Cubed though. So for me, controversially perhaps, it'd be:

Aliens
Alien
Alien Resurrection
Alien^3

I'm not putting Prometheus in that list as it's not an Alien movie. If I did it would probably be third. I'd have to [s]nuke the[/s] watch it again to be sure.

Agree with whattyre and knowing the script ( and the continuity errors!)

Aliens JUST pips alien for me but both good on different levels

Same as Thurman; I saw them both on release the first time, the chest-burster scene was pretty shocking when you've no idea it's going to happen; no Internet or twitter spoilers, back then, see...
Aliens has more action, and Sigourney, going for it! 😀

Most disappointing sequel ever.

Alien is a suspense film.
Aliens is an Action movie.
Really different films. Like 'em both!

Really, it's an awful film on so many levels. 😀

What with this and Top Gear, it's been a tragic night for telly. 🙂

Alien is a fantastic feminist film and a re- evaluation of feminist culture (made by a feminist). Aliens is an action flick with guns n stuff. Far inferior to the original.

Aliens, like Godfather II, is a rare example of a sequel that is better than the first movie. It also pioneered the female action hero(ine). Without Ellen Ripley there would be no Lara Croft or Alice Parks

Preferred Mars Attacks to all of them. More believable.

The thing that always really bugs me about Alien:

"In space, no-one can hear you scream" - but you can hear the engines rumbling!

Apart from that - different films, both good.

Go directly to Firefly, do not pass go, etc.

The inconsistencies in Firefly are so numerous it's not even worth bothering - doesn't stop it being a brilliant series.

It's the ones that try really hard to be accurate that annoy me - like Event Horizon gets so much stuff right, yet has liquid sloshing in a bottle in zero gravity.

Best film ever. Was there a version without the remote sentry guns ? They are awesome.

I tried watching Prometheus again on an 11 hour flight. Got 10 minutes in then a good five hours sleep. Thanks Ridley Scott !

Yeah well I am so old I saw Aliens in the cinema on it's initial release and I am sure the sentry guns were in it, but that could be false memory syndrome. I've watched it quite a few times since then. And there are weird censorship policies in NZ, Saturday Night Fever was about 10 minutes long.

The sentry guns were in the director's cut only. I am pretty sure they were never in the cinema or original video release.

The extra bit at the start with Newt's family... Not sure if it adds or detracts from the film. Aliens was never supposed to be a suspense film like the first one. It's got elements of it, but it's basically an action film with bits of thriller thrown in.

My list would be:

Aliens, Alien, Alien3, Resurrection.

I don't think Alien3 was as bad as most people make it out to be, but Resurrection was Poo (with a capital P).

Yep, weren't in the original.

I think Alien is the better film in terms of quality, but Aliens is still a great action film.
