I think the militants were moving the hostages in convoy to Libya

pure speculation but if the islamists are libyan there's a good chance the weapons they used were supplied by the west

from what I've read they were driving them between buildings in the compound, so the Algerians carpet bombed the trucks....

you are right its speculation and to speculate further the weapons are probably ex gadaffi regiem weapons that the jihadis took with them into Mali and then back into Algeria

Nuke the middle east and make Africa a collection if European colonies again. Clearly they can't be trusted to look after themselves properly.
