I have an Echo Dot (original version ), up until this week it’s was connected via bluetooth to a speaker (Mission Aero). The connection started dropping out, so I disconnected using the Alexa app and forgot the speaker. Now when trying to reconnect, it now doesn’t find the speaker.
I can connect to the speaker via Bluetooth on the phone and my laptop, so I know the speaker Bluetooth is fine.
The Echo Dot won’t find my phone via Bluetooth, but I can find the Echo from the phone.
I have tried another Bluetooth speaker too and the Echo can’t find that.
I have spoken with Amazon, who took me through all the usual steps (reset Echo, delete App etc), the Echo is out of warranty, so they agreed a discount to replace, the new one (gen3) arrived today and is exactly the same and won’t find any Bluetooth devices.
So does anyone know what could be wrong?
Sorry, no advice to offer but our v2 echo dot went wappy last week and I had to use a different phone to set it up as it wouldn't talk properly to the original one. Wonder if there was an update recently.
Yes, I did wonder if there had been some sort of firmware update, have googled and there doesn’t appear to be anything recent.
Amazon seem to have sold you a brand new device which doesn't work, I'd be back on to them TBH.
Try moving it into a different part of the house maybe? Could be an interference issue, my BT paired devices go to shit whenever the microwave is running.
Random suggestion but try turning Echo off for at least 5 minutes at the mains.
