Does anyone know a way of activating Alexa on the android app without pressing the blue circle?

With Google all i have to say is Hey Google and it responds without me ever touching the phone but with Alexa i have to press the Alexa button first before each time i ask a question

I want to use Alexa to control spotify whilst driving so need to be able to ask it to skip songs, select artists etc.. without touching the phone

I could use Google but Google for some stupid reason struggles to understand me where as Alexa understands me every time

You can make Alexa the default assistant in settings, but don't think it's always listening like Google is. On mine a long press of the power button activates it.

Take a look at the Anker Roav VIVA on Amazon. That would do it.

Thanks but making Alexa the default assistant doesn't make it activate without touching the blue circle first

Its very annoying as Google works fine without having to activate it by pressing anything, shame it struggles to understand me!

I guess it's no different to Apple not letting you replace Siri on an iPhone. They'd rather you use their assistant. Can understand why Apple or Google wouldn't want a third-party to have 'always-on' listening on their devices.

Have you tried retraining the Google voice model, step 4 here? Might improve things?

Cheers, Ive tried re recording my voice but it made no difference

The other day i asked Google to play Spotify, it then proceeded to give me a list of nearby truck stops!!!

Also with Google if im playing loud music it cant hear me say "next song" so i have to turn down the volume to say "next song" then turn the volume back up, where as Alexa can hear me no matter what volume the music is set at

It looks like im stuck shouting at Goggle and getting frustrated with it, i do get some odd looks from other motorists!
