Presumably now licenced to "Adventureridge", but looks to be a rebranded Wacaco Nanopresso manual espresso pump and which tend to be a lot more expensive. If similar quality its a bargain.  I have a Nanopresso and use it often, and lifesaver on holiday or camping...it works!

I love my Nanopresso, and I use it all the time. I have no need to replace at the moment, but I'd give that a try at £23!

MrsMC has just returned from a dawn raid at Aldi for this weekends Guide camp and bought me one. Feels weighty, will test later

Are they better/worse than aeropress?

I saw these and seriously considering one. If anyone has one can you tell if it would fit the Nanopresso Nespresso pod adapter? The biggest faff I still see with the portable coffee things is still needing to take a bag of coffee and all the mess that it entails dealing with wet grinds. If I could just pop a few nespresso capsules in a bag with it then it would make it a lot easier.

Girl on a recent trip had an OutIn Nano portable espresso machine. I was initially very impressed but the thing weighed a ton and I can’t honestly see a use case for it that an Aeropress doesn’t fulfil.

I'm sure that my (Wacoco version) has one or two pots with lids designed for a shots worth of ground coffee. Remove the lid and the pot goes into the Nanopresso, so it's already at the right dosage. An alternative is to pre-measure as many shots worth of coffee you want to take for your trip (assuming overnighter or weekend)  and use a little airtight container. That's what I do and takes only a little space...

I'm intrigued to see if it offers anything my Aeropress doesn't.

I popped into our local Aldi but couldn't see them on display in the aisle of wondrous delights. I asked an assistant who told me they'd only just arrived in and then went into the warehouse to retrieve one for me.

I don't know what the originals are like but the plastics feel pretty poor quality (fine for £23 I guess). I'm also assuming that the orginal also has a double-walled water container which can be unscrewed to use as a second cup? There's no mention of this in the manual though it's certainly present.

I'd been after something for the campervan anyway so this should do the trick once I've played around with it. I doubt I'd take it bike/backpacking though as it's fairly hefty.

I just had a look at one on the way home. It looks and feels cheap. I know it’s only 23 but my aero press go wasn’t much more and is better made.
Carefully boxed it back up ( unlike most Aldi rummagers) and put it back on the shelf.

I'm sure MrsMC meant well, but what the **** is this hefty collection of parts meant to do that an aeropress does not do better, quicker and cleaner?

"Are they better/worse than aeropress?"

"I'm intrigued to see if it offers anything my Aeropress doesn't."

It makes a much more espresso-like drink, that's about it.

I used an aeropress every day for about 4 years, and I was very happy with the coffee it made. However, the coffee is like a cross between a French Press and an espresso. The Nanopresso makes a passable espresso considering the limitations of the device (Also used one of these daily for even longer).
The Aeropresso is lighter, more versatile (eg it can make much longer drinks), simpler, and easier to clean. If you like the coffee it makes I'd stick with it.

The Nanopresso is heavier, can only really do espresso, and is a bit fiddly. It probably takes up a smidgeon less space. It can be adapted to take pods as well as using ground coffee. If you want espresso then go for this.

I used to stop by the canal on my way to work. With coffee already loaded in the Nanopresso it was simple to make a decent espresso and enjoy it with a ciggy (the one per day I allowed myself) before going in. It is absolutely perfect for that use case.

Tried the Aldi Wacaco Nanopresso and it leaked water on first use from around the bit that holds the nozzle which diluted the espresso. I tried to tighten it up, but it made no difference. The espresso was OK, but not as hot as I would have liked but I guess that is to be expected. There is a small shaped rubber seal inside it which keeps falling out, how long before I lose that seal?

I bought for bike packing, but I am not sure I will keep 🤔

I've only used mine the once but it didn't leak and there was no seal falling out. Sounds like you've a faulty one so it might be worth returning for a swap.

If I get anymore coffee making kit I'll have to extend the kitchen so I think I'll give this one a by.

I picked one up, and as said above it makes a more passable approximation of an espresso than my worn out aeropress, it's not going to replace my aeropress, but it'll be good when I want a small coffee.

Update: second attempt at using it and it didn't seal fully on the hot water side, so when I pressed the plunger scalding water flowed out and over my hand. Which was nice.
It's possible to overtighten the water hopper so that it becomes "loose" again, in my effort to not do this I didn't tighten it enough and it leaked. I'm bot sure I like a design that allows this to be a possibility, so it'll be going back. Might have to try the real thing.

I think after seeing people's first impressions on here I'll stick with my Aeropress. £5 on a load of new filters should see me through for a while. I might even consider replacing it with an Aeropress Go if I'm feeling flush some day.

Each to their own but what's the appeal of espresso on a camping trip? Surely half the point of a nice coffee is the moral boosting effect given by half a pint of hot liquid? 30ml of cold espresso in the bottom of a tin mug just isn't giving that feeling..........

That and the weight, and the capsules.  I've got one of those GSI ultralight filters, ground coffee goes in, water goes in, coffee comes out, waste coffee get's disposed of as appropriate.  The heaviest part is the ground coffee (assuming you're already taking a mug and a stove).  The only thing simpler are those "instant cappuccino" sachets. Objectively they're over sweet and horrible coffee, but they fulfill the need for something hot at wet when you're soaked through camping.

I've got a Wacaco one. Uses pods. Makes a warm shot of almost espresso. But by the time the water has got through the system, it's not hot. That's with pre-warming with hot water. For camping / hiking trips an Aeropress is way better experience.

I can't imagine the Aldi one is much improved over the Wacaco variant.

We tried these on a recent trip and we were pretty happy with them. Once you've used the coffee they come with you can just put more of your own coffee in them. If you reuse them a few times I reckon they're no worse than pods (except we've lost ours since getting home).

Twas a bit of a waste. I'll keep on with the aeropress. If anyone wants mine before I sling it, give me a shout.

^ I'd say so .. which is why I take just ground coffee, a stove, a mug and an insulated mug cover on bike trips and make cowboy coffee. There's good and bad ways to do it but once learned it's a much better outdoors brew than a small device or machine and it's a pleasure to make and drink on a sunny morning in some field or the woods. Plus, weight and space savings.
Try it - makes a much stronger, hotter cup than a drip filter. I gave up on those as the coffee was either weak, or well-brewed but lukewarm by the time it had dripped through.
