...now accepting Credit Cards.
That will shake things up in the supermarket wars.
? sure I've paid with CC for ages in Aldi.. ?
This changes [s]nothing[/s] everything!
....thing is, my Aldi have accepted contactless payments up to £25 for ages now, and despite me loving the payment method, I still shop in Tesco, who don't. My rubbish point is, I would be genuinely surprised if this would make people change shops.
(duh, misread)
it's the Wednesday specialbuy dodgy fireworks sets, plus today's petrol-driven jetwasher that change everything Jamie 😀
I already shop in Aldi but will shop there even more knowing I can pay by CC and earn some cash back.
Crikey, they're doing they're super 6 offers on meat as well as veg now.
I still shop in Tesco
so full of shame. shameful.
A timely thread; heading down there in a few moments to get a couple of rolls of 'Jumbo Clean Up Roll'...
have you had a picolaccident?
Why does the media, who only seem to have discovered Aldi and Lidl since Tesco started being shit, always refer to them together as "the discounters Aldi and Lidl"?
Very odd.
Well... the 'jumbo' clean up roll is a bit of an anti-climax. It's kinda midway between toilet roll and kitchen roll in size and (as I found after buying a couple for the garage) only single-ply.
But I did get the last £2.99 pack (well, 3-pack) of rubberised work gloves!!!
always refer to them together as "the discounters Aldi and Lidl"?
because they offer a different proposition to the 'Big 4' supermarkets in the UK and are taking massive amounts of market share from them.
and whilst they are different companies, they are intrinsically linked.
Why does the media, who only seem to have discovered Aldi and Lidl since Tesco started being shit, always refer to them together as "the discounters Aldi and Lidl"?
Very odd.
Because they're both German, operate a similar business model, look quite similar inside and have names that are nearly an anagram of each other?
And they were started by brothers. Bit like adidas and puma.
Edit: or maybe not, as I've just looked into it further!!
I have one friend whose only reason for not shopping in Aldi (and he has specifically expressed this) is that they didn't accept credit cards, as he has always been impressed with the products but doesn't have a debit card or carry enough cash.My rubbish point is, I would be genuinely surprised if this would make people change shops.
I'm sure he'll now be shopping there regularly.

It's never put me off

Aldi was started by two brothers.
Nothing to do with Lidl though.
Yeah, just edited my post. 😳
I am also confused to why Aldi and Lidl are called discounters - their prices are always low and don't rely on specially discounted offers to sell the food stuffs. Tesco et al rely on driving people to their store by discounting processed food and alcohol through offers. Surely they are the discounters
