I made a late Saturday night plan to do this the next morning. Unfortunately I was on Beale street & 10 pints down, the next morning there was no way I was going to church. Apparently I did dance around the hotel room to Love & Happiness; although i have no memory of that. 😆

Ah, the Reverend Al Green, definitely a "later in the party" artist when I was younger and hoping for a bit of Nat King!

'Let's stay together' is pretty good although it does tail off toward the end. Usually cheap as chips and does have a couple of classics on though. Looks good on the coffee table, reference for Nick Hornby and Good Will Hunting fans I suppose...

Incredible singer, but too many lurve songs for me. Particularly like his version of this

Just heard the Bee Geez cover of how to mend a broken heart.

Whoa whoa whoa. Is no one going to pick this up? It’s no a cover pal, they just recorded it for themselves later. It’s a beegee original. Just like islands in the stream.

I know its a bee gee original it may be the way i worded it, aint it funny how time slips away an original by willie nelson but like the bee gee song Al does it so much better

IMHO the Rev is awesome. I’ve a bucketload of his albums. I’m still in love with you being my favourite.

The ping-ping in simply beautiful is sublime.

His 15 minute version of beware is pure class too.

The Willie Mitchell house band display the less is more thing to perfection.

'Call Me' is the classic IMO, with a bit of country and gospel among the soul.

Put Al on the stereo and the Mrs goes all googly, and I must admit I do a bit too 🙂

Think about what he (Otis) achieved, then put it in the context of someone that was dead at the age of 26.
