So ive booked a holiday through TUI and i also booked the airport parking through them at the same time as the holiday and paid it all in one go to TUI directly

Fast forward a month later and i get an email from TUI saying they are changing our departutre terminal from Gatwick north to Gatwick south terminal

Not a problem ill just go in the app and change the parking from the north terminal to the south terminal, but you cant do that in the app you have to speak to their customer service team

So i spoke to the customer service team and explained i booked parking at the north terminal through TUI at the same time i booked the holiday and paid in full, then TUI changed the departure terminal to the south one and i asked can they change the parking from the north to the south terminal

No problem they said, that will be an extra £30 as the company TUI booked our parking with only have parking at the north terminal so they need to book it with another company for the south terminal hence the extra £30 needed

I said why do i have to pay an extra £30 because TUI decided to change the departure teminal to the south one after they had booked me in to the north terminal when i booked and paid in full for the holiday?

Its not my fault TUI decided to change the terminal after they had taken my money and they had arranged the airport parking

They were having none of it, i know its only £30 but that's not the point

Rant over!

Have you sourced a quote to book parking directly? If it is cheaper then just cancel your TUI arranged parking and get refund.

Won't the airport transfer buses take you to all terminals regardless of where you have parked?

I usually park at the cheapest carpark on the airport and the bus drops me off at the correct terminal.

The parking was the cheapest doing it directly through TUI, its meet and greet so no need to get a bus anywhere, our return flight lands a 2am so we just wanted come out the airport and jump in the car and head home rather than faff around waiting/catching a bus to a offsite car park

There is a frequent shuttle train between LGW north and south terminals taking about 2 minutes and running 24/7. So although it’s a nuisance it is only a small one.

Cheers we will prob do that rather than paying the extra £30 for the meet and greet parking to be changed to the south terminal

Still annoyed with TUI as its their fault and it was all booked through them

threaten to cancel the entire holiday as you no longer have transport to the place you're flying from and see if they can sort it?

does seem a bit of a faff though. I'd just ring the provider when you land and tell them to bring the car to north. They probably couldn't care less. if its through holiday extras I think you can cancel the entire parking and they just hold a tenner on your holiday extras account (then rebook separately?)

Don’t worry about it, the 5 minutes on the mono rail between North and South will kill some of the 25 minutes waiting for your car to arrive.

I had a good experience with Tui's customer service this month.

I booked parking on their site and I'm convinced that it directed me to the wrong option.  As we landed at Manchester at 3am in February I wanted the multi-storey which is 2 minutes walk away but I ended up booking the drop and go, which means waiting for a bus then trudging through an off site car park.

Of course, though it says free cancellation there is nowhere on the site to do it.  I called them and a lovely guy in Egypt said that yes I could cancel but they didn't have any places in the multi storey for those dates.  Well, I was on the Multi-storey site at the time and there was availability for standard punters at the same price.

When we got back I kept checking and the refund hadn't arrived but a few days later an invitation to review our trip popped into my inbox.  I made a polite reference to the parking (without swearing blind I was innocent of any mistake because you can never be sure) and next day I got a phone call sorting it out and the full refund arrived a couple of days later.

And because we landed at 3am I wasn't going to use meet and greet which every time I've experienced it has involved much walking, queuing, waiting, arguing and more walking.

And (because I often travel with a friend whose Defender has a fancy immobiliser) it sometimes involves a journey to a muddy field to meet (and decline to greet) a bloke who can't get it started.

After waiting for an hour after flying from NY with two small kids, I won’t use M&G again. Probably okay with a firm with a proper presence like Purple Parking.
