Airplay 2 on a Samsung TV to use Joe Wicks Body Coach App

My wife signed up to Joe Wicks' Body Coach App on her iPhone.... but then realised we can't cast the workouts to our Samsung TV. For some reason, I incorrectly thought that a Chromecast with Google TV would be the solution. Bought one and turns out it's not, at least not for an iPhone. Shame because I like the Chromecast.

Now reading this https://thebodycoach.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360016007637-Can-I-stream-the-workouts-from-my-Apple-device-to-my-TV-

Seems like I need a way to make my Samsung TV receive via AirPlay 2. The TV doesn't have any built-in AirPlay or Chromecast capability. Perhaps the Roku Express is the answer? https://www.roku.com/en-gb/products/roku-express-4k

Can anyone confirm that?

Watching with interest. I have the Amazon Music app on both my ipad and TV but whenever i try and cast to the TV airplay is the only option that comes up.

some samsung TV's had airplay enabled a while back.

I just bought a refurbished apple tv. Software is orders better than the samsung one and it now doesnt buffer and lose resolution all the time with the same programs on nowTV and netflix.

Essentially, this is why I thought the Chromecast was the answer. However I think the problem is that the iOS Body Coach app is not Chromecast-enabled (only the Android version of the app is).

Logged into the Body Coach app on my Android phone and I can cast the workouts to Chromecast.
The iPhone Body Coach app finds my neighbour's Apple TV. So it seems this is each version of the app not being able to use the others eco-system.

Not quite the same but…

I use my iPhone to run Rouvy / Zwift etc in to an old free 32” tv (no wifi) so use one of these

needs an hdmi cable and the phone to be charged at the same time but works well and relatively cheap as a solution

Stupid question but is Google Home installed on the iPhone?

Looks like you could buy a cheap Apple TV if you have a spare HDMI port and download the app to it.

Yup, it is. Can control the Chromecast with the iPhone etc. Just no option to cast to it from the iOS Body Coach app.

I presume you can screen mirror then, although the quality will be dubious.

Can't screen mirror, the iPhone doesn't have the Chromecast as an option there.

On the iPhone I can cast YouTube, All4 and IPlayer to the Chromecast. So it's something iOS apps can do but just not the Body Coach

I might try a Roku device as at least it has features beyond just receiving.
