Ok, I get you're all going to be tempted to tell me how sh/t you think Blackpool is, but a few honest/thoughtful answers would be helpful.

My sister is in possession of a house just outside of Blackpool, which in a few years she would like to move to permanently. In the meantime, she'd like to use it to flit between here and her current home elsewhere.

To help keep it going we're thinking air BnB or the like would be good to help fund the upkeep.

So the question is, does an Airbnb about 3 miles from Blackpool town centre, in a quiet village with local pub, walking distance to nature reserve, on a network of country roads great for cycling, bus route, not far from motorway, 3 bed semi (2 double, 1 single) with modern kitchen, walk-in shower and gardens and garage sound like something that people would actually come to!?

Bearing in mind there's a lot of cheap accommodation alternatives in Blackpool, could you envisage families wanting the Airbnb type idea just a few miles outside the town? There aren't any other ones on the website in the same village. I feel like there's always going to be someone who will stay anywhere!

She's worried about investing in making it suitable to let out, but then no one actually comes.

Any useful advice also welcome!

How about longer term lets to BAE Warton staff - they get a lot of post grads moving to the area looking for accommodation for a few months until they find somewhere to buy.

See what's on offer on AirBNB in similar villages outside Blackpool now - and what the pricing is like.

Might be a good option for people wanting a holiday on the Fylde but just to pop into Blackpool now and then.

Yeah, this. The Fylde coast is pretty lovely, so if it's the kind of place where there's easy (i.e. walkable) access to the lovely dog-walky, bike-ridey bits, but near to Blackpool for seaside fish and chips and kiss-me-quick-hats fun, it sounds like the kind of place that we'd go.

Not thought about Warton, that's a good idea. I had considered the hospital, as we're relatively close to that.

it sounds like the kind of place that we’d go.

I'll let you know when it's available 😜
