I'm increasing finding that I use one of AI models for work and leisure; usually to bounce ideas off and sometimes get inspired but I know they will start to insist on a subscription at some point, so is anyone paying a subscription already?

I get vanilla MS CoPilot through my M365 business sub. That is useful, and i can use CoPilot's iteration of GPT-5 within that subscription. If I want some rum and raisin I will have to pay more for a CoPilot specific subs, but I am not sure what i get for that. I am just starting to use it for more involved tasks, so perhaps my usage will get more sophisticated.....

I'm keen to try to use copilot to see what kind of coaching plans it could come up with. I need to see if I can get the coaches Gear books in PDF format so it can use those and then make suggestions for session plans...

That is the only bike-related thing I can think of just now for using it.

I've also just started using it at work and it seems to be ok...but I need to spend time learning the bits and pieces to get more out of it.

I've apparently got Gemini on my phone, but I don't use it much if at all...I'm just starting to use copilot at work and as I've got a m365 sub at home I suspect I'll end up using a bit of both...unlikely to be paying for the privilege though.

At the launch of copilot at work some external walked on stage and announced that AI is going to do all the heavy thinking for us...not ideal to the marketing department...and as we are quickly finding it is doing such heavy lifting that it is buckling under the load and getting properly mixed up with responses...so I'm not sure it is completely ready to do the heavy thinking yet and the marketing team's jobs are hopefully safe for a bit longer.

I've had a Plus subscription to ChatGPT since it first became available. We use it (just share the one account!) all the time at work so it's handy to never be rate-limited, and it's fun (if not exactly essential) to be first with the new features. Consequently never really bother to use any of the alternative options so couldn't say how they compare!

They update it constantly and you can really see how it's come along in such a short time, we find it very capable for a lot of different tasks.

Slightly annoyingly you still have to pay per API call even if you do have a Plus account so I've started using Google Gemini for some Home Assistant stuff (even though a call is generally <1c it'll eventually add up!) as you get 100 free per day, although I haven't really been paying attention to the responses to see how they stack up with ChatGPT.

Managed to get some stuff for Gemini to query and it did a reasonable job at creating some session plans...it still needs finessed but the basics are ok...

Now I've done it, I'm not really sure how practical it will be as a helpful tool as I suspect it needs a lot more stuff to input.

yeah I use chatgpt, its got better at coding. Still needs human oversight though.

If you have a powerful computer you can run your own at home quite easily with https://lmstudio.ai/ Very little techy skills required.
