Do I need to watch all the Clone Wars/Rebels stuff to make Ahsoka worthwhile
Really want to see what happens with Balon, what’s he up to?
Thats the main thing for me as well.
Never seen any of the animated stuff but happy to go with the flow and I'm enjoying Ahsoka.
But then - and I know I may be banned from my own thread for saying this - I found Bobba Fett perfectly pleasant brain out entertainment.
Was not sure at first. Then I let go my feelings go. Now finished available episodes, fallen in love with the ladies and want more. Even like the little crab peeps. Also sad to learn Ray Stevenson died.
off to climb in whale
Dangerously close to Ewok territory but at least it wasn’t mods on Vespas.
whoa, whoa, whoa. The Ewok’s are bloody brilliant!
Evidence A - The Yub Nub song.
Evidence B - Guerrilla warfare.
Evidence C - Using dead Stormtroopers helmets, and possibly heads, as a drum kit.
Evidence D - Having spare clothes for Lea to use means they have form for murdering and/or eating previous interlopers.
Evidence E - Murder bears.
Most underrated characters in Star Wars. The Clone Wars would’ve been over a lot quicker if those furry ****ers had been involved. They’d eat those snail people for breakfast.
Gonna be honest, I was disappointed by Thrawn in this week's episode. He's a short middle age dude with a bit of a belly.
Thrawn should be tall and imposing. Oh well.
Yes he had let himself go a bit, if he's heir to the empire maybe there's hope for me yet.
Evidence E – Murder bears
Yeah to be fair playing Ewok hunt on Star Wars Battlefront where you're a stormtrooper in the dark with a torch and the ewoks are everywhere with sharp pointy sticks, the little buggers always win.

He plays Thrawn in the Rebels series. And he is Mads Mikkelsen's brother! But, I agree, that belly does not work

Hey, give the guy a break... He's been in exile for a decade, he can be excused for letting his exercise regime drop a little... 😀
Just watched EP 5.... Space Whales!?
Capable of hyper speed travel! *face palm.
I just find Shin Hati has a constant look of frustration and just wants to kill someone.

First seen in Rebels. Shown briefly in The Mandalorian too when they are in hyperspace, it was a beautiful moment.

I'm married, so I know the look.

Star wars may not be a safe place for you if that's the hill you want to die on 😁
I used to read the books, in the legends stuff there was all sorts of random shit like this e.g., yuuzhan vong

Right, when I am Supreme Emperor of the Universe, you are first up against the wall....
Ep5
Tried watching - fell asleep
Thought I'd rewatch it late last night
Fell asleep.
I'll give it another go.

Sounds like my body's response to 'Secret Invasion' from Marvel. After the second falling asleep I took the hint that maybe it wasn't for me.
🙊
I am trying to watch it, watched the first episode, but it did have a fair few meh moments, such as self destructing robots that wait until their target is at a safe distance, a macguffin that's a map for some reason and someone getting skewered by a lightsabre and not really being too badly wounded by the looks of it.
Will give it another go, do feel that Disney stuff is suffering from overload and lack of real writing ability, it has a real feel of soap opera writing these days, i.e. it's done quickly and not really thought out too much.
I've never really got on board with the whole zombie thing, apart from Shaun of the dead. Star Wars certainly doesn't need ****ing zombies!
Apart from that, enjoyed it, even though I don't really understand most of what's going or gone on. will now wait for the next season....
And out with a pfft rather than the bang I was hoping for. Still, it's got star wars on the box so I'll watch it come what may and eat the occasional turd in the name of religion. May the Force be with Filoni for the coming projects.
There must be a way of getting back to the main galaxy from that planet like a temple with the connection to the world between worlds, or tennant robot has a story that explains how to do it. Or Ezra will steal the coordinates from thrawn

..or the same way they got there, in the mouth of a space whale

I agree, it felt pretty abrupt and unsatisfying. Would like to have seen more Ray Stephenson
Weird ending - very clearly setting things up for series 2.
Agreee on Ray Stephenson - he stole the show as far as I'm concerned; especially in a few of the middle episodes with some great lines.
Perhaps setting up for two separate things (series or features I don’t know). One is Thrawn’s return in the timeline set up by the Mandalorian. The other is what happens in the new galaxy (although the loss of Stephenson might put the brakes on that).
Daring.
I mean it takes some balls to launch a new series and decide that while you'll make eight episodes, you'll do away with anything as mundane and straightforward as a plot, story or point.
I really enjoyed every part of it. And its set up nicely for season two and the Thrawn movie which have both been hit with the writers strikes in the US. There were so many throw backs to verious episodes of Rebals and the clone wars, leaving it open to loads of interpritaion to new and old fans alike . Rays passing was a loss for all concerned but looking art the way its heading Baylan was looking to become of of the Mortis gods so re casting to a differnt actor may be a little easier.
Far better than Kenobi and the BOBF and in some respects a fair few of the Mandalorian episodes. And a grungey moody sith lass to boot 🙂
I think I watched a different story to you Nick! Perhaps I’m just a big kid that’s easily pleased.
Yeah I thought it was one of the better Star Wars series, full of interesting, unanswered questions and really impressive performances
really impressive performances
Thought that was the weakest part of it really, but then all the TV series stuff apart from maybe Andor - and in places even that was weak, have been bad, but then dialogue and depth has never been SW strong point..."you can write this stuff George..."
I think half the issue is that Felloni is obviously a real star wars fan, and I think it stops him from developing these characters, or deviating from 'canon' lest he upset some of the fan base (the incel white dudes who live in their mothers' basement; that lot), and this whole series was just to place these characters on the map. Ezra got home, Thrawn to Dagomir with all the undead witches, the massively unsubtle hints about the Mortis trio...It's like the Obi mini series, just created so that he and Vader could have another fight, which was entirely pointless 'cause it has to fit into the first trilogy.
Ach, I dunno, I want SW to be the thing that first caught my imagination what? 45 years ago, in the mean time I've grown up, and SW hasn't I guess.
in the mean time I’ve grown up
That's where you gone wrong!
I really liked it and am looking forward to their next season. Unlike many - I had no problem with Thrawn. I really liked the trilogy that started with Heir to the Empire of Timothy Zahns, and to see him in a live action show was great.

This hit the nail on the head for me
I think the Zombie Stormtroopers were a bit much - WTAF !
Mortis gods
Isn't Ahsoka meant to be the daughter, or some link to at least, after the Clone Wars episode?
Followup will be her taking on that mantle perhaps.
Edit: I enjoyed it but....
- the audio was so quiet. The quietest yet on Disney which already has issues with consistency
- Ahsoka came across as a bit weak in the fighting department a few times which is not what I expect given previous appearances
Star Wars isn’t going to grow up. It’s fundamentally a kids/family thing. Like an intro to sci-fi.
Agree that Ahsoka seemed a bit crap at fighting when compared to other media she’s been in. The Night sister lady should’ve been a push over. Suppose they need to create tension and jeopardy somehow.
I loved although, tbh, I would have been almost happier I think with it all being animated.

Yes of course, you're right, and I'll continue to watch it, and be slightly but continually disappointed, like a book you've started and you know isn't going to get any better, but for the sake of completeness...
Why do the force users always seem to fight with light sabres and not just throw people around? This has Probably been answered somewhere on tinterweb already.
Plenty of folk being thrown around by the force in that last episode. Including by someone who isn't a jedi? what are we to make of this? If 10 year old me had known I could teach myself to feel the force I would have tried much harder.

I use the force every time I walk through some automatic doors

We have an automatic door on our floor at work that has a 10 second delay for some reason.
A surprising number of middle aged men go full Yoda to "force" it open.

Morgan? Yes I was hoping her spooky sword did something special like go through light saber beams. That would have been a higher stakes fight. Some of the actors seem to struggle with the kung fu fight moves, lets be fair though many are voice actors who got to do the live show so maybe not as primed for the physical stuff. Still fun though.
As for zombie Stormtroopers lets not forget ghost Jedi have been a feature of Star Wars for some time.

That is what electric car boots are made for...

She’s clearly going to be “the Jedi that no one believed in, including herself”… rather that the usual “the chosen one”… “born with a destiny to fulfil” stuff they’ve already done plenty with.
Happen to think that if you take this series and Andor together, they’re doing Star Wars right. Very different paths. This one is the magical fantasy one, the other the rise of the people one. Both worth watching for me. Looking forward to more of both.

Yes, the daughter (light side) Mortis gives up her life to save Ashoka. It was no co-incidence that in the scene with Baylan at the end of the Ep, you see him, and in the background only the the statues of The Father (balance) and the Son (dark side).
Edit; just to reveal that I am in fact a massive SW nerd, (Baylan) Skoll and (Shin) Hati are the two wolves that in Norse mythology chase the sun and moon and bring Ragnorok. Their names are probably not co-incidence.
