For me, I think the Kaiser Chiefs were way ahead with the winner:

Rubyrubyruby Ruby!

Rahul is starting to get on my nerves, and KimJoy is a bit form over function.

Bake Off is dead to me now Manon has gone...

Consensus in my office is Ruby is the most consistent and should probably win it, but that it's anyone's game and they are all capable of winning it

I will be out at ballroom and latin dancing lessons (how middle class). The programme will be recorded and no doubt spoilers from radio and telly will be announced next morning if I don't wear ear plugs. Has Prue given the game away yet?

I would love Kim Joy to win.

Still miss Mel and Sue. Noel and Sandie don't make me laugh and I find their form of comedy very false. Whereas Mel and Sue were natural and just gel.

If its not pie week, I'm not interested!*

* This is a lie. I'll be glued to it like every week, while occasionally having a moment of clarity and wondering why I find a programme about baking so strangely compelling

I picked Ruby as the winner in the first five minutes of the first show.

Not because she’s the best at baking but because she’ll sell the most cook books at Xmas.

Still miss Mel and Sue

You could always watch Mel hosting what is possibly the worst ever game show on TV - Letterbox on bbc2. She's bad, it's bad. Very sad.

PP - Rumour has it that tonights showstopper will be dispensing with tradition and in a radical departure will have them get the deep fat fryers out and produce tandoori munchie boxes, while drinking Bucky

That’s the Great British Jake Off you’re thinking of

Don't miss Mel & Sue at all. Thought I would but now they are gone I couldn't be happier.

Hope Kimjoy wins, although quite like Ruby to. Rahul plays to the camera to much with his sad puppy dog act.

I think Pru/Noel/Sandi and the Mary/Mel/Sue aspect is basically plus ca change. But I'm only saying that to impress Manon

wondering why I find a programme about baking so strangely compelling

I've pondered this, and concluded that it's just really refreshing to see a program where the contestants are all just normal, nice people, who are really, really good at something. No preeners, no celeb wannabees, just a tent full of people you'd happily, well, have tea and cake with.

And, you know, some of them you'd happily do other things with too 😉

Manon should still be in...it's a travesty!

We'll be watching...Ruby for the win, she seems like a right laugh 🙂

Bet Rahul will be disappointed, even if he wins it. Definitely won't crack a smile.

Haven't got on with Kim-Joy since day one.

Ruby FTW

Normally there is a favourite that you latch onto early on & hope does well. This time, meh - there was no one who has really kept me interested.

Although, somewhat contradictory to that statement, this also holds true

Bake Off is dead to me now Manon has gone…

Ruby for the win I reckon.

Noel Fielding is one of the most annoying people on the planet, I could quite happily spend the entire show dropping the complete set Le Creuset cookware on his head.

I’d love Ruby to win...but I think Kim Joy will take it. I’ll be on a flight home when it’s on so will try and catch up tomorrow. And yes, Manon, a shame she’s gone.

Ruby definitely has the nicest muffins.  Imagine opening your presents on Christmas Day and finding a Kim Joy cookbook staring at you. It'd put you right off your Brussels.

I haven't watched much of it, but I saw a bit where Kim Joy was crying. It was the funniest thing I've seen in ages!

Has Prue given the game away yet?

No but Ruby did and although the name she gave out to a fake twitter account wasn't revealed you now know who hasn't won.

As long as it's not ruby I don't care. She should have gone weeks ago but seems to have Paul under her spell

Indeed, while MrsTH and I didn’t agree on who should win, we both agreed it shouldn’t have been who did.

Called it. 😉 Sandi and Noel are mega - Sue was great but Mel was - and is - a serious charisma vacuum.

Those show stoppers looked terrible, they should have given them something that could be completed in the time frame. He was a worthy enough winner, I'd like to see a few more traditional bakes over the course of the series to really see how good they are. The bakers didn't see as good this year.

Wow, that bloke won? Sympathy vote surely? I had to turn off cos his pathetic little face and manner were annoying me and the baking wasn't interesting enough!

The showstoppers all looked like a play doh disaster in a kindergarten. At least it's over and we don't have to look at Rahul's puckered up babboon's arse face any more.

Throughout the final KJ was the best and definitely most consistent.

Ruby and Rahul should have gone weeks ago. In fact Rahul should have gone and Mahon stay. She would have have been fab during patisserie week.

Am disappointed.

It felt inevitable after they saved the Rahul two weeks running while the other bloke (whose name has already gone) went after one bad week.

I wanted to stab kim-joy, i still do.

I wanted to stab Rahul, i now want to stab him more after serving that monstrosity.

I would consider stabbing Ruby.... but i'd do rude things to her first.

I wanted Jon the big Welsh boy to win it...

Probably best to avoid the village show next year in case you get psychotically enraged by the result of the flower arranging and go on the rampage.

I’m assuming that “stab” is a euphemism, like “pump” or “bone”.

Otherwise, you’re coming across a bit serial-killery

The right person won on the day but both him and Ruby should never have been in the final. Both should have gone in earlier rounds.

As for the challenges I thought they were pathetic for a final. Doughnuts? Really, then the technical that was all about who made the best dips and the showstoppers all looked like a 5 year old had made them.

I think the show stoppers should have been the fine patisserie or some form of celebration cake/display

No... afraid not... Kim-Joy... Yes i could effortlessly snap her neck and watch as the life drains away from her stupidly made-up eyes and that ridiculous smirk she does while fawning about like a demented deer.

This. Anything which involves the winner producing some chocolate soil and green sludge that tastes of orange isn't really a good advert for baking!

You could always just “stab” the buttons on your TV remote and  watch something else?

...unless you make your captive victims watch it whilst you use their severed body parts to replicate the recipes on the show?

weeksy - KimJoy speaks very highly of you.

She is lovely, sweet, kind, generous and a well rounded human being. I wish more human beings were like her, the world would be a better plave.

Lol at Perchey.

Very poor final with a bad choice of tests for the bakers and the wrong person won but other than that I enjoyed it 😉

Genuinely, how do you know that? Unless you actually know her, then, well, obvs.

Anyway, probably the right winner on the day, HollyLeith obviously thought his showstopper tasted amazing, and the other two rounds were all pretty even-stevens.

All three 'showstoppers' looked bleedin' dreadful though.

Rahul reminded me forcibly of Marvin the paranoid android. I’m sure he’s a nice lad and everything, but I’ve pissed the bed and had less of a wet blanket!
