I'm shopping for lower control arms...mind bending variety of price points and brands. Are they all churned out of the same factory and just get boxed up with whatever branding you want? Or are the more expensive ones fitted with better bushings etc?

I've got a choice of Bilstein, Oyodo, Swag, Yamato, JPL, Birth, Febi, First Line, Blueprint, Monroe, ranging from £104 a side to £200 a side. I can't imagine the bulk of them are distinguishable from the rest? They are all genuine of course, yes genuine pattern parts by Swag 🙂

Waiting for the Honda dealer to open to see what price their version is...hopefully it will be somewhere in the middle and I can avoid all this nonsense 🙂

Bilstein I would think make their own, or if not have higher quality of materials and control. Blue print are a budget brand but any consumables of theirs that I have had fitted like air filters have fitted well so make of that what you will.

An engineer could confirm but I think the important point is do they have access to the original jigs for making the part, or are they cast etc from a part they have bought, like many of the cheep eBay Chinese part do. The material strength might be the same but it will be a pain to fit.

Edit: cheap

Honda parts I would think would be more expensive.

Yeh I've seen Febi and Febi Bilstein branded parts, quite happy to pay the extra if they are not exactly the same as the cheaper ones! I'd rather pay a couple of hundred more than be replacing more bushings in a couple of years!

Don’t forget that Honda wouldn’t have made the original parts, they would have been bought in from an OEM supplier who may well have changed several times during the production run of the car. A bit of Googling will usually tell you who that manufacturer was.

Guaranteed they will be one of if not the most expensive. Like most OEM these days.
