Will A&E/Minor Injuries do anything for possible bruised/cracked rib or will it be a waste of 3 hours of my life that would have been better spent growing some nuts and not being a big pussy?
Non-bike and drink related if that makes a difference!

Can you breathe?
If so, don't bother.

I went to A&E recently for the same and they asked if I'd had I been to the doc, which I hadn't. They listened to my breathing, took my blood pressure and pulse which were all fine and sent me on my way.

Nothing they can do apart from check you haven't punctured a lung etc (which I guess you;d feel / know about). Treatment is paracetemol and rest! 🙁

Speedy recovery, frustrating injury!

Not a lot A&E can do for you, personally unless your coughing up blood, or having trouble breathing, then I would waste your time going there. But really up to you to decide as only you know how painful it is.

I'm not a doctor, but after the last time i broke mine, a few people suggested you should get it checked over, to ensure you're not at risk of further injury- punctured lung was mentioned. But I still wouldn't tbh.

On the other hand- I did go to my GP and get fixed up with some stronger painkillers, which meant I could get on with things better- why suffer needlessly, I sez.

Wouldn't affect mine, but I might get a bit of sympathy at home (although I doubt it!)

AE doctor on dinner break here. If you can breath deeply without pain (after painkillers, don't have copd (Google it), don't smoke, aren't short of breath and are under 65 then no don't go. If yes to any of the aabove go. Chest injuries can be nasty and aren't to be messed with.

This pretty much fits with the advice I was given after a rib injury playing rugby ages ago.

Oh, and if you have a girlfriend, best to tell her that your ribs are injured before she runs up to you, grabs you in a big, loving embrace with her big, ahem, tracts of land prodding at your ribs. Ouch.
