We're going to spend just over two weeks travelling through France and Spain to the Costa Blanca from Caen and as we have young children, the ferry gets in to Caen at 2130 so we can drive a long way (unfortunately missing out Brittany) in the night to get a fair distance.

I have been thinking of Biscarrosse for maybe a week but I also know we've passed many amazing places before then - there must be some great areas in Limoges, Burgundy, Bordeaux before we get there.  In addition, I'm thinking maybe of Pau, how is that area?  I also see a tunnel through the Pyrenees there so it might be easy to get through to Spain and spend time there.

We will have bikes, kayaks and a 3-year old and 6-year old.  We need to have a whole heap of fun after the last year or two so any advice would be very much appreciated.

You could try The Arcachon basin for kayaking and the biggest sand dune in Europe - there's bits of the Dordogne worth visiting. One of our favourite campsites is Les Paradis at St Leon sur Vezere although it will be rammed in July & August (as will almost anywhere else on the west of France).
