Why not just get the train from Edale?

There's no charge payable at present for private vehicles, T5s included. Commercial vehicles are charged though.
Check here:

It's not that simple. My T5 is privately owned but is registered as a commercial so fees do apply. Our friends T5 Caravelle is exempt.  Needs a plate check to be sure.

As above - I'd just get the train in from Edale. Nice Journey, bar the tunnely bits.

Or if I absolutley HAD to do some driving, then park at Dore Station and train in.

If it was me, I'd either train from Edale/Dore or park and ride on the tram from Hillsborough area.  Not sure if you'd get a t5 into the official park and ride carpark at Malin Bridge though - probably best check online.

Other option would be leave the van in Crosspool or Lodge Moor and get the 51 bus, don't try to leave it in Hunter's Bar/Fulwood area and bus in, because some of the roads are closed with the Sheffield 10k on Sunday morning...

Dore station car park is completely closed until mid November. I’d be getting the train in (and see you at the drum and bass ride if that’s where you’re heading!).

Ironically the Caz is suspended on Sunday cos of the 10k. It's not as if runners need clean air.

Cant take bikes on a tram or a bus

I guess you're coming for DnB on a bike. Its likely to end at Endcliffe park so just drive and park anywhere near there, its outside the CAZ.

Also CAZ is a tenner, you'd spend more than that getting everyone on a train.

+1 on train.

Anything else involves odd car parks and paying or park and bus / tram in.

You won't - I use Malin Bridge regularly and it has a height bar across both entry and exit points. You won't get a van into it. I assume it's the same with the other P&R sites.

Depends a bit on if you're taking the bikes into Sheffield or leaving them in the van. If the latter then that's risky at the best of times - I'd see if you can park at somewhere like the Yorkshire Bridge pub (right up against a wall) and walk down to Bamford to get the train in.

If you're taking the bikes on the train, you'll probably have to do 2 in one carriage, 2 in another although they're very used to bikes on that line and (generally) OK with it. No booking required. And if you are taking the bikes, just park at Bamford Station - decent quantity of free parking there, CCTV etc.

Dore & Totley station car park is closed at the moment due to the track improvement works taking place in that area.

I missed the bit about bikes! If you're planning on taking them into Sheffield, then just leave the van somewhere near the university/children's hospital and ride in through the uni and along division street.

Mushroom lane, behind Weston park museum, is usually pretty easy to park on if you are early.  Think it's free on Sunday too.

You could park on my driveway on S2. 5 minutes ride from town.

I missed the two bikes bit.

Park at Stafford Road, Norfolk Park, S2 outside the Wildlife Trust or Norfolk Road, S2 outside the patk and roll into town. It's free parking and there's enough space for visitors.

Our old road.

thanks for the advice.

we've decided to catch the train from edale, it'll add to the adventure.

@sharkattack that's very kind of you, may take you up on the offer at another time.

Wot Podge said - DnB finishes at Endcliffe I think so park round there. You’re on bikes - use ‘em.

Parking around that bit of Ecclesall Road is a challenge at the best of times. I'd imagine it'll be borderline impossible if folk going to DnBoaB have this idea.

Give over, the only road that's actually busy round there is Ruslings road because people don't realise they have legs that work for more than 20 seconds.

Parking will be tight off the Eccy Rd because it's Sunday and the students are back. I didn't notice any bikes going into cars etc last time but parking is possible, just take a left rather than a right when coming in from Edale.  I'm sorry to have to miss this one.

The ten10ten on Sunday starts and finished in Endcliffe Park, so it's likely to be busy round there. Sounds like you're making the right decision by taking the train.
