OK, so I've got an old watch from the 60s
I wanted to get it serviced and a new crystal (the glass) put on it as the original one was a bit scratched.
So I agreed a price and sent it off (in a box) to a guy who is apparently the authority and go-to guy on these watches.
It comes back (wrapped in a bit of bubble wrap in a jiffy bag) running nice and all is well... except the new crystal is not up to standard as the hour markers on it dont line up with the chapter ring. They are all wonky. You'd have to be blind not to notice.
I get onto him and say it's not good enough, do you still have the original crystal, if so just give it a polish and put it back on please. So I send it off again (£5.45 special delivery) and it comes back a few days later (in a jiffy bag again) with the original crystal and £25 cash as refund for the new crystal I paid for. But now it doesn't run. Well, it does, but you need to tap it to sort of kick start it. But then you set the time and it doesn't restart. So something is up.
I get onto him again and say there's something wrong. Again I send it back (special delivery £5.45 again). He checks it out and emails me to say the electronics have bust and now he wants £75 for a new (well, second hand working) set.
Where do I stand with this, seems out of order to me?
