Coincidence maybe, just had the email to say my subscription payment failed (because I've switched bank accounts since last year), d'oh

Whereas I hadn't changed banks and mine failed too...and yes, there was plenty of money in 😂 (for the moment anyway)

Another one having problems renewing my subscription, while feeling somewhat pissed off that my ‘ad free’ experience isn’t ad free. It’s not even something bike related, just some random clothes company.

Have they got a sale on?

Not only are there ads for subscribers, the owner of the company placing those ads then spams threads with further advertisements (before getting deleted by the mods). Bit of a pee take!

At least he gives a **** and doesn't come on looking for drama. And usually most of the time someone has asked a question, you didn't give Starling or Pinnacle shit when their guys were on answering questions.

It’s not the ads that bother me, they’re as unobtrusive as is possible- it’s the sneering echo chamber of increasingly aggressive comments. Not open, self mocking charismatic dickheads with opinions that could be argued with, that it once was. The humour  seems to have eroded to a point I can’t see it anymore, and I try to think that might be me getting old, but I’ve seen old posts as times gone by and it really is different now.

Chain reaction or Brant’s over promotion of his moleskin knickers wasn’t a problem, because my liking for Grumpy Mark, Hannah, Alan, Chipps, etc and all the lovely forum posters that were relatable people , were more important  - but the amount of posts now that just rude, even across long standing members, made me walk and cancel. And I’m still sad at it, because I really felt it was a (losers, obvs) community.

All that makes me smile now is Poopscoop with his broken cock stories - even the gif thread is dead. And I feel bad for that, but i miss the days when there were more like him with his humour, personality and general likeableness.

TL;DR: I don’t care about the odd advert.

NB: I don’t want to see Poopscoop’s cock in the gif thread.

Yep your old, we’re all old now we’re pushing into our 50’s and the STW tribe we had 20 years ago with social rides, events and racing has drifted away but that’s no bad thing as it was only by meeting up with others that we came to the demoralising reality that we are all slower and less skillfull than others, now we get to sit in the comfort of our own homes with pipe and slippers whilst watching the world carry on without us, our only release is by coming on here to talk shite.

Amen, riding with other people just gets you * up (I don't think there's photos of my not quite as * face from the same weekend 😅 )

Ha ha, not seen that view of me for a while, I still look the same apart from the blood (obviously), still wear that Milwaukee Cyclery hoody as well although it’s getting a bit threadbare and starting to fall apart at the slightest provocation, much like us all I imagine.

It was fun while it lasted, be grateful for that experience.

I was referring to folk becoming bores - not growing wise enough to not look a Terry Butcher tribute act.

Imagine paying for this steaming pile of dog shite website and you can't even read it because some clueless, underskilled muppet has enabled white text on white background. It's absolute comedically bad.

Bravo, I salute your ever increasing ways of being incompetent and turning this site into the worst user experience on online. That's a skill in itself.

Although an impolite way of putting it and I was in no way a major contributor, I agree with above, I'm here far less now because it's a bit of a ball ache to read and post and quote everything else that goes with being part of a forum... As well as only riding gravel & having less free time.

I think that's uncalled for.

Brant (owner of HebTroCo and founder of On-One) has been a very long standing supporter of this website. I don't think he needed to put that advert up there, but after the CRC/Wiggle collapse and subsequent loss of funds to the site he stepped in. In these shite times for the cycling industry we could cut STW Towers some slack.

How about a bit of perspective for you grumpy b####s!

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/apr/04/elite-cyclist-to-lead-london-race-while-living-in-asylum-hotel

and, as you grow older you don’t have to get grumpier, it’s not compulsory!

Have a good weekend and forget all your “problems”!

I posted a link to the sale when I thought I'd also sent a banner.
But it turns out I hadn't sent a new banner ad.
I've now sent the banner and I'll behave.
But yes, we do have a sale on.
Load of jumpers mostly, but some other nice stuff too.

Wrong demographic for jumpers. It's mostly gravel riders on here these days.

No - someone up there said they didn't come on here because they were riding on the gravel?
