Anyone use Adobe Portfolio?
I’m about to try it out as it’s free with my Creative Cloud subscription. Only a vanity project for some of my better photos, but any hints or tips before I start would be appreciated.
Links to what you’ve done would be great too.
Cheers
Nope, never even heard of it 😂 (just realised why, I've never even clicked on the "web" tab of available apps before). Will check it out though. Like most people with a CC sub, probably only use a tiny fraction of what's available to me!
@zilog6128, to answer my own question - it was very easy to do; really pretty intuitive and sooo much easier than my previous website. Capacity seems excellent, I haven't seen any mention of storage limits and you can make up to 5 websites per account.
This is what I created over Christmas for my wildlife photos:
I'm sure there is room for improvement, but for something so easy (and effectively free) I am very pleased.
Any suggestions welcome.
@tlr looks great, will have to check it out, glad someone got something productive done over the Chrimbo break (cos I didn't 😂)
I spotted your post the other day @tlr.
Like Zilog, I'd never heard of it. I tend to just use InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects, though to be fair, I do use them all day, every day 🙂
I think your site looks great. You've got some fantastic images. I like I how you've kept it nice and simple, including the navigation. I particularly love the cover page. Very nice, simple and clean, definitely makes you want to click to find out more
I'm now having a play with it myself as given that its included with my CC I might as well use it. I'll post up the results when I'm happy with them
Cheers for the heads up
Thanks both of you.
I do prefer a simple look, and like my images to be as clean and uncluttered as possible.
I *think* you can swap themes after your website is done just with a couple of clicks to see if anything else looks better, but I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet.
@tlr - you can simply click on the themes to effectively scroll through them to see what works. If you then click back on the theme you're already using, it will revert back.
I'm at a point where I've imported all my content and I've been playing around with themes and trying to finesse it a bit as I'm finding the default sizes for headers etc look a bit clumsy so I'm seeing how editable everything is. At the moment I'm finding it a bit of a blunt instrument, but I'm sure that thats down to me not using it properly, rather than any issues with the software. Like everything else, I'm sure its a learning curve and I'll (hopefully) have some 'ahhhhhhh, so thats how you do it' moments. 🙂
Thanks @binners, I'll have a go at changing themes.
I'd imagine you might well be right about it being a bit of a blunt tool - it's designed for ease of use rather than maximum flexibility. There are things I would like to alter for sure but not worked out how to yet, but for a tech incompetent like me I am pretty pleased with it.
