New van takes it, supermarket petrol station stuff as good as say shell? Never used it before so wouldn't know.
It's diluted piss, I doubt there's much in the way of quality control required.
all the same, its quite well controlled. There's only a couple of manufactures of the stuff anyway. It's only susceptible to water ingress (less effective). I work in the fuels industry..
That's it then, Morrison's finest the next time I fill up! 👍
What’s in it then?
Water and what?
Regulated? By whom? And what’s the actual cost to manufacture it? Excluding the marketing bullshit, obvz.
And can you run a vehicle without it ??
Ok, answered one question (partially)
AdBlue limits the amount of harmful emission from your engine. Emission legislation allows only small amounts of NOx. If you exceed this limit when running without AdBlue, you may be running illegally. ... No, the engine will not be damaged when you run out of AdBlue.
From Halfrauds..
If you run out (or very nearly run out) of AdBlue most modern diesel engines won;t allow you to start the engine until the additive tank has been refilled. Fortunately my car has a range of 12-15,000 miles on a tank of AdBlue so I haven't reached that problem yet.
Certainly on the continent most fuel stations have an AdBlue and getting it from somewhere that has a good trade means that its less likely to have degraded.
It's water and urea (65/35 ratio). It's manufactured to a standard so it makes no odds where you get it from. Out of a pump somewhere is cheapest, but to be honest it's not desperately expensive anywhere (except maybe from a car dealer).
Pumps are way cheaper than bottles but it's all the same piss in a bottle.
Brother in laws Audi says no if you run out, prior to that it gives several warnings, then in to limp mode then in to I'm not going to start mode!

So Urea is Piss then.
So, carry a bottle of water and piss in your tank.

So Urea is Piss then.
No not quite.
Yes you get plenty warning Wrightyson our works vehicles certainly do.
Our vehicles get topped up as part of a service, when's it due?
I think my transit custom is good for about 6k miles before it needs any.
Is there an ISO number on the AdBlue filler cap? AdBlue is a trademark so any bearing the name and ISO number should be ok but check with Ford if you're unsure (IANAM, and I'm new to this Euro 6 stuff too)
My Peugeot Boxer managed about 5000 before asking for a fill. I didn’t know you can get it on pump at the time so buggered about with a fill up bottle, was a right pain as the filler is quite awkward.
Also it would have helped if Peugeot actually listed the capacity of the tank in the manual rather than me guessing if it was full or not every time it spilled on my shoes.
not sure it’s progress but anything to save the baby robins.
Just bought some for the first time yesterday after a 1500 mile " warning " light came on ..
Quite a difference in price between a 1litre bottle (£ 9.99) or 10 litres ( £14.98 ) ..bought at a Shell garage ..just because I was there ..
Wonder if it works as well as that ( urea based ) foot cream on my feet ...
10l is £10 at Halford’s. Not sure what it costs at pumps?
The stuff that gets sprayed on cut conifer stumps (which also has blue dye) that you may see in forests that are being harvested in big blue drums or tanks is also urea solution. That stuff is really corrosive and jams up the pumps etc on those big harvesters if it’s left to run out. I’d suggest keeping it well topped up and try not to slosh 8t about on your paint work etc.
