Can't recommend anyone as I'm too far North.

From my experience don't scimp on the prehab or the rehab exercises (complete rupture & medial meniscal cartalidge tear). Full recovery after surgery at 50 years old 2 years ago.

Immediately post surgery initially feels like a set back but perseverance yielded good results in my case.

Jnr FD plays academy football and has recently done his.

From the way you have worded it are you looking at going privately?

Has your Jnr had an MRI as yet to confirm the full extent of the injury?

Depending on the type of injury can determine the timescales to surgery and the type of surgery. Jnr FD was operated on 2 weeks from injury as he had a meniscus tear.

Jnr FD had a Patella Tendon graft and meniscus repair. It’s brutal surgery especially for a kid. Some surgeons have different approaches to surgery too, but there is strong evidence repairs done with a bone graft are stronger in the long term

We bought a Breg Cryo cuff, after recommendation from the surgeon. Was used asap after the injury, and is still used now 3 months post surgery. massively reduced swelling and also good pain relief

Prehab is really important, getting swelling down before surgery and being able to straighten the leg. Follow the expert advice.

Rehab in the early stages is brutal but controlled. It’s important to get  movement back in the leg not long after surgery.

Jnr FD was put under paediatric physio , but the surgeon had him swiftly moved to adult physios, they had much better kit , and a much more aggressive approach to rehab.

Im not sure how much you know/don’t know about rehab times, but Jnr FD has been told a minimum of 9-12 months before back playing competitive football

More than happy for you to PM if you wish

Good luck to you and Jnr, it’s a devastating thing when it happens, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone let alone a kid, and there will be tough times ahead

Oh buy some nice crutches, it makes a massive difference. We got some flexyfoot ones after recommendation from Physio’s and they have been brilliant

Just to add

The type of surgery will also be different depending on how much growth Jnr has done/left to do (growth plates)
