So in the space of 3 months on 2 separate occasions, I've managed to injure both these ligaments in my left knee. How frustrating. Currently can't walk nor sleep due to level of discomfort.
So can anyone better my 2 ligaments/3 months/2 separate incidents?? Bones count too.
Are you sure you are really injured ? Normally when people have sports injuries they know all the details, ACL is a ligament, Meniscus is not 😯
2 knees, no ACL in either. 30 years apart.
FWIW I think the two injuries you have a related, the knee almost certainly hadn't recovered from the first injury leading the to the second. Get an MRI and some specialist treatment and advice (surgery or not plus physio). Use an ice pack multiple times per day and keep the knee well supported.
BTW I am of course taking the p*ss re meniscus, healing vibes
Yep....and ibuprofen will help too.
The meniscus is the cartilage which acts as a shock absorber between the joints. Can be easily torn as Ive found a couple of times! Even minor tweaks can hurt for ages. 🙁
Pan handle tear of the meniscus..surgery
Further debridement of meniscus (rode 3 peaks 5 weeks after surgery)...surgery
Torn ACL...Arthroscopy
Synovial Plica...surgery
All on the same knee. All within 3 years. It looks like a bloomin pin cushion.
I can ride my bike as much as I like.I can run about 50 yards.
Had a 75% reduction on my tibia meniscus in May. Still recovering and trying to get fit for skiing in January. Kneeling on hard surfaces hurts and some twisting motions hurt too. Biking is basically OK but not pain free. Good luck!
3 hip arthroscopies for hip FAI, one knee cartilage op for bucket handle tear, when doing that they found a torn acl, just had that done. All in 6 years.
Fractured my hip socket in 3 places at a DH race in the middle of June. 12 weeks on Crutches, no driving, summer written off, get the all clear from the doc for starting to get off the crutches on Weds 10 Sept. By the weekend I am walking short distances without them. Go for my first (very slow) (road) ride since June, with my girlfriend in the sunshine on the Sat morning.
Monday feel a bit rough at work, bit of stomach pain, centralises over formerly fractured hip, assume is me being a bit overeager. Ignore, go home, take painkillers, vomit them back up. Chunder up dinner too. Head to GP Tuesday morning. Appendicitis. Bugger. Off to hospital in Whitehaven. "It's definitely appendicitis, we can't do the op, so ambulance to Carlisle. "Its urgent, we will operate on you today, you are on the emergency list". 3 days of fasting before I get a laproscopy to remove what little is left of my appendix. Frustrating, in a lot of pain, eventually escape. Home from work for the next week, feel much better, scars start to heal. Went back to work on Mon, 1st Oct. Had invitation to wedding in Somerset, so set off on Tuesday night planning to head there the scenic route and drop in on some family.
Where am I now?
Tuesday night near Preston I got a bellyache. By weds morning this felt like appendicitis all over again. Dropped into Ormskirk hospital to get checked out. Sent to Southport Hospital. Since last Weds I have been in Southport with a post appendectomy infection. They fitted a tube via a very hairy process involving a CT scanner, no pain meds, what looked like bike gear cable, and about a metre of garden hose last thursday and drained some super disgusting looking goop out of the space where my appendix was meant to be.
I want to go home, eat some salad and fruit and ride my bike. This summer has been a total wash.
Dan wins (not feeling the super bit much).
^ Dan definitely wins. All the best mate and I hope your Christmas goes a bit better for ya. Get away somewhere (centre parcs is nice).
I'm definitely injured haha. Been to hospital for relevant scans etc for both of these. Minor ACL damage and a bit more serious on the meniscus. Ho hum.
4-6 weeks recovery. Damn it.
My Dad took great pleasure in pointing out that any of these things individually would likely have been fatal pre-1860 or so. I think he was trying to cheer me up.
I did have an ACL rebuild back in 2010. Took a season off racing, came back way stronger. Was frustrating, but once it was fixed I felt pretty positive about the physio etc.
Bradley - your first step should be to get a proper diagnosis.
Had fractured Fibula, torn LCL last year, recovered from that after 18 weeks, took eight weeks to diagnose the fracture.
After the 18 week recovery I slipped on my first week back at work and tore my lateral meniscus. Op December 2013 back to work Feb 14. June 2014 torn Achilles tendon. Back to work next week.
I have broke my left leg four times, two knee arthroscopies, dislocated shoulder three times and have two screws in my hip.
Also had two Ureterorenoscopies for kidney stones.
I'm a walking disaster.
Dan wins easily..
I had ACL reconstruction 4 weeks ago, healing nicely.. My knee did give out 2 weeks ago on stairs and I fell down. It was swollen again and very stiff and sore last week.
Called physio and he spoke to my surgeon who wanted to check it out, so off to hospital last Friday, X Ray and MRI scan revealed graft was ok and still intact.. Phew!
Left knee ligaments are very loose so will need done.. But not until they go! Right shoulder need surgery to reattach stuff to the shoulder.. Was meant to have it done last year but didn't want to stop playing hockey.
Think that's it for now.. Chicks dig scars though!
Also had 3 back operations.
To the OP.. If u suspect u have torn or ruptured our ACL you need I get it checked out, it won't heal on its own. U would know if u have ruptured it though! I dislocated my knee when I did it!
