I've got a bit of bruising to my right Achilles, about 4-5 inches above my heal. It's not sore to walk, cycle or run but is sore to the touch.

Don't want to bother the doctor of there is nothing they can do.

Should I see a doctor or is it just a strap it up and rest it type of thing?

See thee doc. They'll give you a boot thing which will protect the area and prevent the foot from bending, giving it time to heal. Currently walking etc, even cycling is exacerbating the injury, so it needs to be isolated from movement.

Don’t want to bother the doctor

People have died from diseases like cancer because they didnt want to bother the doctor. OK thats not the issue here, but the attitude is the same. It's what we have the NHS/GP for, so use the services. It will in the long run save the NHS etc money.

Appointment booked for the morning. Not liking the idea of a boot. I've got some longer cycle rides planned this year 😬

I blame the running, just got under 29 minutes for a 5km as well 😣

I had this for years when I used to run, permanently sore achilles - never got any worse. Completely vanished once I stopped running.....

Saw the doctor who was sympathetic to my ailment (he'd suffered a ruptured Achilles in the past). He says I have tendinopathy of the Achilles, but he thinks if I stop running and carry out daily stretching and strengthening exercises. Then it should calm down and be a less likely to happen again. He also mentioned being over 40, things like this can just happen.

Also had a swim last night and massaged my calves which has helped reduce the swelling and relaxed the calf muscles.

Just need to follow the doctor's advice and see how I get on. 🤞
