I have got some lovely iroko timber that I am making into shelving and the surface needs sanding but there is a lot to do to get the desired finish.
If I could put it through a drum sander machine it would save me a lot of time, anyone know someone that has one or provides this service. Not asking for a freebee, happy to pay.
It is 300mm, 400mm mainly with one piece at 600mm.
Drum sanding machines are really expensive bits of kit. You'll need to find a furniture makers or such. Probably start around £1500.
Sometimes Iroko can ruin belts.
It's oily and so you get clogs, then you get burns then you're replacing belts.
It's the devils work I banned it from my old shop.
Sorry that's no help but it might be the answer you get from a lot of joinery shops
Why specifically do you need a drum sander ?. If its just a matter of preparing the surface for a finish, whats wrong with something like a 1/3 or 1/2 sheet finishing sander, or random orbital ?.
Hi pal, I run a joinery company and we have a 900mm wide SCM sander, drop me a message 07879 460740 (marsden based workshop)
