Looking at somewhere new for halt-term, Abersoch looks promising, any advice on what to do, where to go, where to avoid? And any self-catering recommendations would be most welcome. Cheers
We have a caravan there (well 1/2 of one) if you like beaches you will love it. We go swimming and kayaking, dog walking etc and I love running along the coastal path. Our kids are older so we just do the above, then have a few drinks in the pubs in town. If the weather is good then its a lovely place to be.
Downside is there are a lot of the showy Cheshire set in their RR/X5's etc and prices for drinks and food are quite high. Off road cycling opportunities are small. Less than an hour away from some good hills though
as above , very expensive, for food and drink, crap parking at times it gets crowded, not much there to visit or see, plenty of walks and sand , great beaches etc, and if camping dont park next to the hedge in the big field, after arriving after dark then get up at 2.00am and go for a wee behind hedge its a huge drop into the sea as i nearly found out years ago. Finally it gets ver windy there ensure a tent is well tied down.
Unsure if I would go there in October though. Fine in the summer for the beaches.
We had a week just down the road in Criccieth and coped fine but the weather was good.
Another vote for Criccieth. And Aberdaron is really nice to but very quite.
The whole Peninsula is a great place for a break but I wouldn't stay in Prestbury on Sea for the whole time. We went in October and got lucky but HT a bit later this year I think?
my inlaws live at Criccieth. we always make a pilgrimage to Abersoch for the day whenever we visit. usually cant wait to gtf outta there! its lovely to look at, the beach is great (out of season) and the coastal path to Porth Ceiriad but the town is just too busy for me, and busy with the type of areshole i dont wanna be surrounded by. its mega expensive and the pubs are shite - but thats a problem across the whole peninsular... much prefer the serenity of Aberdaron, Morfa Nefyn or somewhere around Trefor fro the scenery and the hills! also, as unglamorous as it sounds, we quite like Pwllheli - the Glan-y-don beach by the marina is fantastic for kids.
Was full of pavement parked white Range Rover sports and stained with fake tan everywhere when I last went. It was a bit like a mini rock for the Cheshire set and if felt like there were a lot of folk there trying to get noticed...
