Eeek,
Mrs Rock fancies this for her birthday. I know a few people who have been and said it is very good, but it’s pretty pricey and it appears that it is just watching a fancy video* of them. Anyone been, thoughts? We’d be tying it in with a few days in that London.
*they aren’t there in person I get that, and what a business model!!!!
Wife's mate and his husband went and loved it.
I went with my wife & daughter and was in the standing area at the front....not really an Abba fan but I know their songs (who doesnt?) and I thought it was brilliant; even if you're not into the music, the visual effects/lighting/etc side of it is incredible.
I recommend the standing area too; a few drinks in and the positivity of the Abba fans around you and its hard not to get in the swing of it
I’ve heard good feed back
Some one wants to go for their birthday. Just say yes. Life’s short.
There is indeed a standing area, the dancefloor, as it’s called. Shapes thrown.
Went with my very keen wife and daughter earlier this year. Walked in sceptical but was actually pretty gobsmacked. Visually, the four avatars are eerily lifelike and, being voiced by the group, highly convincing. A live band with backing singers helps create atmosphere.
'Bjorn' and 'Benny' enjoy some banter between songs and 'live' performances of the big hits are interspersed with lesser known tracks accompanied by elaborate light shows and Swedish folklore animated videos.
Most of our audience were totally up for it with only a very few old gits like me trying to suss out how the avatars actually worked. They can walk seamlessly around each other and hold hands with no interruption to their images. Multiple projectors? CGI? Who knows? Not got a scooby how it's done but it's technically brilliant.
Overall, it's mightily impressive, great fun and well worth it. The venue is quite easy to get to from the Tower Bridge area via the DLR. Afterwards we did discuss if the technology could be used to recreate live shows of Elvis at Las Vegas or the Beatles playing Shea Stadium. Could quite possibly happen if there's money in it.

It's like this, but the strings are made of laser beams.
