Just a month after having a windscreen replacement it's bleeding cracked again, both times it frankly sounded like a Bluebottle hit that did it. 🙁

Anyone know a way to stop them from spreading, or as it's pretty close to the corner steer the crack down to the edge by some careful pressing. I really can't be bothered to have another new one and it's way out of the line of sight so shouldn't worry the MOT.

can't help, all i can say is my windscreen cracked on wednesday, and today i picked up a huge chip where a lorries late braking caused a chunk of tarmac to fly into the screen.

The only good thing, the replacement windscreen is going in on sunday, so i don't have to get it repaired.

I've got a big crack in mine. Just outside of the MOT area so I can't be bothered getting it done as last time they did a screen on my other car they fitted the wrong on (not the purple tinted one) and there is a huge dimple in it where they didn't fit it right.

Knowing my luck at the moment it will break tomorrow!

I would advise against the DIY route. The previous owner on my last car tried that and did a pi$$ poor job. Parked up in the sun on a hot day and the air they had let in expanded and when I came back there was a huge crack - hence the repair needed that they messed up.

I think there's meant to be a joke about injecting special resin into your crack on a thread such as this.

😀

I'm not thinking of going for a wholesale replacement, just some bodge that will prevent it getting so long I have no other choice. I didn't know you could get a DIY repair kit, that may just work. Ta.

Ah, just re-read your post andyl, I get you now. I'll try the DIY route anyhow, but be careful to fill it properly. Nowt to loose as it's already broke.

How does one go about replacing a windscreen on a car where the frame around the windscreen has been rusting and previously bogged with polyfilla, mastic and toothpaste? There's a geezer selling a cheap runabout on my street but it would need a new screen before taxing it...
