...about keeping 'friends' on social media who's views are not yours. This screegrab is why - reminds me that there are all sorts of opinions out there.

Also worries me that rational adults think and broadcast this shit.

I'd keep away from political threads on here if I was you.

That would be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

There are some buzzwords in that lot, "Sharia" "Anti-British" "benefits" "Hitler" "Treason".

Their logic is pretty outstanding.

Is that a conversation that one of your friends is party to? Or are all the voices in that conversation people you're 'friends' with?

Do we win a prize if we guess which one of them is you?

Unfortunately that advice is currently sitting in the bottom half of the page 🙂

Thankfully, none of them is me.

These are just replies to an anti-Corbyn image that my Facebook friend shared.

This could easily be solved by banning anyone who doesn't know the difference between there, their and they're from the internet

Been on YouTube lately?

Every second video is preceded by a Tory campaign advert and the messages in them aren't' very far off what those comments say. Throw in a bit of swivel-eye and you are there.

Massive "Project Fear" campaign. Ah well... it worked well for the Remain vote.

I've unfriended a couple of people recently. Perfectly decent guys in real life, but their brain goes into neutral on the interweb.

One had reposted a racist football chant after making a big thing about taking his 10 year old to his first match.

The other had shared some "too far right wing" group page for my liking.

I'm not missing posts from either of them

I've given up trying to work out why, and how "rational" humans hold the views they sometimes espouse in real life and the bottom half of the net.

Hate to break it to ya folks, but its ALWAYS been like this!

Trouble is, Facebook, youtube etc have given all the thick idiots a voice with far further reaching loudness from the old pissed natter round a table in the pub. Whereas "Dave" would've been shouted down by his mates with more than half a brain, now he can be joined by a million other Daves all with the same dur dur dur The Sun The Mail moronic views. I love the Internet me.

So we either..

a) Educate people
b) Limit voting
c) Do away with democracy altogether.

I vote for a

OP well at least you are aware that alternative political opinions exist in people you know and associate with. Cutting them off would just put you in a vacuum of people who you agree with. I was always taught in general not to discuss religion or politics. The internet has changed the presentation forum but the advice remains the same. In terms of regular STW posters is very unrepresentative of the UK as a whole.

Sadly, they are real. Just search twitter for 'hayley321' and there is the evidence.

When it comes to friends politics on Facebook it's mostly a Corbyn love fest or borderline racism in their love for UKIP/Brexit. Those that push it as far as Britain First get unfriended, or at least unfollowed.

Best is to keep out of it or just make silly jokes about all politicians. That and post stuff about cats.

I (ashamedly) got into a row with a bloke about those coppers using (what appears to be) excessive force against some yobs in Taunton, the video is doing the rounds.

All of the 'in my day we called everyone sir, doffed our caps, had an orange for xmas and my old man beat me with a shovel' crew thought it was brilliant, yoof of today, little scrotes, etc, no respect, just beat everyone up who doesn't follow orders.

I was called a liberalist leftie for suggesting the coppers might end up on a disciplinary charge for their behaviour. I'm anything but.

Wish I'd not got drawn in, but these bloody people who think the future of the country is being an insular, minority hating, racist, xenophobic, self serving island paradise do my nut.

Innit, I don't need to be FB "friends" with racists to know how and why people vote Tory/Ukip.

There are other information sources available and I speak to people in real life.

So @chak now not only is everyone who votes UKIP a racist but all the Tories as well ?

Wish I'd not got drawn in, but these bloody people who think the future of the country is being an insular, minority hating, racist, xenophobic, self serving island paradise do my nut.

So I just searched for the video. White coppers arresting white youths - no racist blah blah stuff at all. In fact I don't see what all the fuss is about. Job well done.
