Nah, for getting Boy Scouts out of horse’s shoes; or horseshoes out of Boy Scouts, I forget which.

Oh, can’t be that dull surely 😁

But yeah, maybe “crimped” = snapped off. Wonder why it was in a cow field miles from any houses..

It's a left handed screwdriver.

All be it left handed screwdriver with a worn out and broken blade.

If you go back and search the area you may find the right handed one that it came with.

.

Wonder why it was in a cow field miles from any houses.

Elemooooontary, my dear Watson.  It's perfectly obvious that some slack-jawed urbanite got wind of the fact that his flame-grilled cheeseburgers were made from actual animals.  Feeling peckish, armed with a box of matches, an empty belly, and some of that white apple-flavoured fizzy alco-pop, they expeditioned to the nearest field of cows in pursuit of the ultimate al-fresco burger.  Furthermore they wished (in the vernacular) to 'Have it large, like at Truckfest 'n that!'.

It would appear that our departed friend made the grave (and final) error of bringing a spatula to a bull-fight.

It may have been his first and last rodeo.  May we remember him fondly by his last stand against the terrible forces of nature to which we are all subdued and subjected.  May his last resting place be preserved as a monument to human endeavour.

I laughed! Then I clicked your link... I could've taken many a similar photo in fields not at all far from the cow pasture where my item was found.

It's the detonator handle from a WW1 bomb, where exactly did you pull it from? Was there ticking?
