@wwaswas
Sadly the plane in the picture was the Filton Rolls Royce plane and was totally destroyed. There is a video on Youtube 🙁

You could say where you are, and we could maybe track it down on Flightradar24 in case it's heading our way.

Cool, nowhere near me then, still I guess I had more than my share of the Vulcan with Finningley down the road.

Tremendous stuff!

One evening last summer a mate and I were Roe stalking. We were close to an airfield in N Yorks. No sign of any Roe bucks, but we had just settled in watching a doe and a follower through the binos when a Hurricane appeared a couple of fields away and started going through some fancy stuff. Fantastic entertainment....mother nature and historic aviation in juxtaposition.

A neighbour in the village sold his Hurricane last summer. He kept it at his little private strip quarter of a mile away and his wife and a mate used to take it up a lot and wring the f*** out of it.

I see one every other day in the summer. They do a 1/2 day Spitfire experience from Goodwood. IIIRC its £7k for the whole shebang. It is the twin seat trainer so there are 2 sets of controls. Guy Marton had a whizz about in it.
Fab noise , when I hear it I usually run up to the beach for a better look , and they often do a gun run along the seafront

Theres a guy down here who has a Hurricane and regularly practices aerobatics in the summer over Frater Lake in the evenings.

We were lucky enough to have a couple flying around the area in the summer practising I think for the Dunkirk film. Used to having lots of light aircraft and gliders overhead as we're near an airfield, but the spitfires makes a truly awesome noise.

Cool. Love the sound and the sight of them. A flight in one is definitely on the "lottery list"

I hear they are being resurrected as the new front-line fighter for the RAF since these Johnny foreigner types can't be trusted.

I'm in the final stages of raising the required funds to do a 55 min flight from biggin hill to beachy head in a 2 seater, then back, doing a few manoeuvres and areobatics on the way. Some time in March to coincide with my birthday hopefully

I have never looked forward to something more in my entire life.

It's all the fault of this bloody website too
