Why has the snow melted on my concrete garden path but remained on the tarmac pavement outside?
a) Closer to the house (heat from house)?
b) Warmth from the bodies under path?
c) Concrete is shonky (thin & it's just letting up heat from soil)?
Not closer to the house. If there are bodies they'll have been in situ for over 60 years so not convinced there'll be any heat from them!
One north and the other south facing?
Our old school a part of the playground snow always melted faster there, many years latter when they dug part of it up they found a broken large mains feed cable, check if its on the route of your incoming mains supply or drain out of property.
My guess is the Concrete is full of calcium salts (Calcium chloride is used to melt ice) and is also porus and full of salt from the last time you salted it? Or it retained more heat and was in the sun longer? The Sewer runs underneath?
Could be loads of these. Dunno. Do an experiment?
Looking at neighbours gardens it's def surface related. Any of the original concrete that was put down when the houses were built is free of snow irrespective of direction, proximity to houses etc. Other hard surfaces remain covered in snow.
Indian burial ground 😆
Check the alignment from your house to Stonehenge.I warrant your path is on a Ley line.
