You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Our 13 year old pug died yesterday; we'd just got back from her evening walk and she was just about to tuck into her dinner and she went floppy and stopped breathing. She started again a couple of minutes later, and tried to get up, then was still. I took her to a vet but already knew, I think, that she was gone; they said it was probably a heart attack.
She'd been with us nearly 12 years, and had a difficult life: used for breeding when she was small, she was given up for adoption at 18 months, when we took her in. She went blind aged 6, but after a period of adjustment carried on trundling on, loving ambling around, eating and just being with us. The last year or so the strength in her hindquarters was going, but she could still stiffly find her food bowl and rummel it around in that "I could've sworn it was time for feeding!!!!" way that dogs have. She spent much of her day asleep, in her bed next to my desk, or on the sofa next to us in the evening; but she always seemed quite content and wanted nothing more than to be near us.
She's been a part of my daily life in so many ways over the last 12 years, particularly since I started working from home about 6 years ago, and I keep catching myself wondering if I can hear her snoring. I'm gutted; goodnight little Abby, you were always a Good Dog.
:'(
Sorry for your loss.
It sucks when the little furry blighters pass on.
much love.
It is tough and it hurts so much. Sorry for your loss.
My ~14 year old Patterdale is snoring away behind me now, I will give her a hug
Sounds like you gave her a great life. Sorry for your loss 🙁
Perhaps Winnie the Pooh (A. A. Milne) said it best with "How lucky I am to have [had] something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
Although I know from experience, it's going to take some time for it to feel that way.
Gutted for you......but it sounds like you gave her the best life especially working from home and being there for her.
Sorry to hear this - I dread the day when our pup will have her last walk.
Oh I hate these threads. 🙁
Sorry for your loss nicko. A reminder to all of us with older dogs to make the best of the time. Sounds like she struck lucky after a tough start in life.
It is ten years since I have lost a dog but I found this video quite touching at the time
A reminder to all of us with older dogs to make the best of the time.
Yes! Give your dogs - and cats, and hamsters if you can catch 'em - a big hug to show them how much you love having them around 🙂
Oh, those furballs, the day we all know is coming, sorry to hear your news.

☹️
The reward we receive from bringing them into our lives is huge, but the price, the final goodbye, is so hard. 😟
Sad for you. As I say at these times, you gave a dog a chance at a great life and they'll thank you for that. And the best tribute they'd want from you, when time has healed, is to give another dog the same chance.
We get so attached to them, don’t we? And with bloody good reason!
You gave the little furball a great life, which I’m sure she gave back in spades. Just think about the good times
It's always sad when they go.
Its the shitty end of having pets.
My condolences still miss my Ruby 18months on
