since getting my squier classic vibe tele,i have been having problems with the 2 highest strings "double noting".it literally happens the next day from putting them on.i always clean my guitar/fast fret the board/strings after i have played it.
any ideas about how to fix the problem?
i make sure that the strings are correctly under the string tree (in the grooves).
thanks in advance 🙂
also how do you adjust the pickups for the best sound reproduction to strings? i do find that the neck sounds a bit muddy when playing through drive settings (i.e super sonic amp mode on my mustang 1)it sounds fine on clean though. i use 9-42's (yes i know i'm a lightweight, but my little hands aren't that strong 😳 🙂

If by double note do you mean a sitar-type sound, and does it go away when you fret a note? If so it is probably the nut needing a little filing, which I recommend you have done by a shop, the one you bought it from if it is new. This can also be dodgy strings, but probably not if it is happening on two of 'em.

Single coils often respond better by being further away from the strings. The neck pickup has more bass and less treble than the bridge pickup in general, but you are probably using too much drive, lots of people do!

String gauge is not a measure of manliness.
