It's also possible to deliberately create images that have more colour information than some devices can handle.

The issue is fairly simple, Android displays images using the sRGB colour space, whereas that photo is in a regular RGB colour space, but the issue only seems to affect certain devices:

It does seem pretty stupid that Android can’t handle an image colour space that’s been a standard for images used for colour displays since colour tv was introduced.
What you get when anyone can set their own standard for the OS, I guess.
My tech nerd 16 year old just tried this on his phone. Moto G7 with a custom ROM. It went into a fit of turning the screen on and off. He's now in the recovery ROM sorting it 😆
